CARY, N.C. — The Sembler Co. has unveiled plans to develop a 72,000-square-foot, Publix-anchored shopping center in Cary, roughly 11 miles west of Raleigh. The project, which will be known as Amberly Place, is situated on 22 acres of land at the northwest corner of Greenlevel Church and Carpenter Fire Station roads. The Sembler Co. has developed approximately 325 projects totaling 27 million square feet.

HOUSTON — Dallas-based Scott & Reid General Contractors plans to renovate Museum Medical Tower, a 177,476-square-foot medical office tower located at 1213 Hermann Drive on the north side of the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The $10 million renovation plan includes upgrading the building’s façade, main entrance, roof and landscaping. The overhaul will also deliver systems upgrades and three new suites ranging from 1,700 to 2,244 square feet in size.
PLANO, TEXAS — Marriott International has opened the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West Hotel, a 304-room hospitality asset located within the $3 billion Legacy West development in Plano. Developed by Plano-based Sam Moon Group, the hotel features an on-site Asian fusion restaurant, an indoor/outdoor lobby bar, pool, fitness center and luxury spa and 26,000 square feet of meeting space.
EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. — HDA Architects has been selected by Panattoni Development to design Lakeview Commerce Center 5, a 768,678-square-foot industrial building in Edwardsville near St. Louis. The speculative distribution center will be located in Lakeview Commerce Center and accommodate four tenants. The building will feature two-story office space at each corner. Some of the design components include a two-tone paint scheme and accent lighting. Construction is slated to begin later this summer. HDA Architects previously designed Lakeview Commerce Center 4, which consists of 769,500 square feet and is occupied by Amazon.
BETHEL TOWNSHIP, PA. — Dermody Properties has broken ground for the development of LogistiCenter at Midway, a distribution building located at 270 Midway Road in Bethel Township. The park will feature 1.1 million square feet of warehouse, distribution and e-commerce business space. Situated on 136 acres, the building will feature 36-foot clear ceiling heights, 60-foot loading bays, 207 car stalls (expandable to 309), 368 trailer stalls (expandable to 438), 212 dock doors, four drive-in doors and a 185-foot truck court. Ware Malcomb is serving as building architect and Blue Rock Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is slated for completion in spring 2018. Joseph McDermott, Vincent Ranalli and Jake Terkanian of CBRE are marketing the property for lease.
ORLANDO, FLA. — Amazon has unveiled plans to open an 850,000-square-foot fulfillment center at Lake Nona, Orlando’s 17-square-mile master-planned development. Slated to open in 2018, the new site will create 1,500 full-time jobs. The project is being developed in a partnership between Seefried Industrial Partners and an affiliate of USAA Real Estate Co. Tavistock Development Co., master developer of Lake Nona, sold the site and will develop the infrastructure for the project. The property will utilize automated processes supported by Amazon Robotics, a Massachusetts-based manufacturer of robotic fulfillment systems. The new fulfillment center will bring Amazon’s workforce in Florida to more than 9,000.
MIAMI — Miami-based development firm Terra, in partnership with Mayfair Real Estate Advisors, has secured a $32 million construction loan from BB&T Bank for the development of Mary Street, a Class A office and retail complex in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood. Designed by Touzet Studio, the project will transform a parking garage into 78,000 square feet of office space with 18,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. The building will feature 24-hour security, above ground public and office parking, electric car charging stations, bicycle stations and bicycle storage. Construction is expected to begin next month, with completion slated for late 2018.
HOUSTON — Arch-Con Corp. has completed construction of the Northwest Alliance Ministries (NAM) Harrell Family Opportunity Center, a 32,000-square-foot community center in Houston that will provide space for hosting career fairs, conferences and job training sessions. The two-story property features meeting rooms that can accommodate more than 300 people, a food preparation area and a new computer lab. NAM is a nonprofit social work agency that serviced 114,000 people in Houston last year.
TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH — Construction has commenced for Summit Vista, a 105-acre continuing care retirement community in the Salt Lake Valley city of Taylorsville. Planning for the community began in 2015. Once completed, the property will feature a 62,000-square-foot clubhouse. Intermountain Healthcare will provide medical services at the community. Financial backers of the development include Gardner Co., iStar Inc., Solamere Capital and Zions Bank.
HONOLULU — Ross Dress for Less will open two new stores in Honolulu on July 15, 2017. The openings are part of the retailer’s 2017 proposed expansion program of about 70 new locations nationally during the year. A 32,000-square-foot store will be located at Nimitz Highway and Sumner Street. Another 24,000-square-foot store will be located in Ala Moana Center at Ala Moana Boulevard and Piikoi Street. With these stores, Ross will have 19 stores in Hawaii. Together, Ross Dress for Less and dd’s DISCOUNTS currently operate approximately 1,560 off-price apparel and home fashion stores in 37 states, the District of Columbia and Guam. Ross Stores Inc. is headquartered in Dublin, Calif.
