SOUTHFIELD, MICH. — Farbman Group has completed the renovation of Oakland Commons in Southfield that it owns and manages. A new fitness center and conference center were added to the two-building office property. The 24-hour fitness center includes elliptical machines, treadmills, weight machines, shower facilities and fitness classes for tenants. The conference center consists of mobile video screens, teleconferencing capabilities, a full kitchen for catered events and new office furniture. Other amenities at the property, located at 20700 and 20750 Civic Center Drive, include after-hours security with lobby attendant, a restaurant and onsite management.

NASHVILLE, TENN. — Indianapolis-based Buckingham Cos. has opened the residential portion of Aertson Midtown, a 17-story, 600,000-square-foot mixed-use development located adjacent to Vanderbilt University in Nashville. The Residences at Aertson Midtown is made up of 350 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units with rents ranging from $1,800 to $5,500 per month. The property features a rooftop pool, dog park, dog wash station, bike storage, theater, fitness center and 24-hour in-room dining through the on-site Henley restaurant. The community features 35,000 square feet of retail space with tenants including Charleston-based gourmet grocer Caviar & Bananas, Kimpton Aertson Hotel and the Woodhouse Day Spa, which is due for completion this fall.

ATLANTA — CBRE has unveiled plans to transform 7000 Central Park, an 18-story office tower located within Atlanta’s Central Perimeter submarket. Improvements to the 423,775-square-foot tower include modernization of the front lobby, a fitness center, collaborative working space and conference center, expanded café area, meeting space and a new outdoor living area that will provide gathering space for lunches and special events. 7000 Central Park will join CBRE’s 5-Star Worldwide Program, a national network of office buildings that attracts talent through a range of professional services, hospitality and events. CBRE’s 5-star shuttle service will provide tenants access to MARTA stations, as well as several mixed-use communities in the area. Renovations are expected to be completed by November of this year.

GAINESVILLE, FLA. — A joint venture between Batson-Cook Development Co. (BCDC), 908 Group and Kayne Anderson Real Estate Advisors has broken ground on The Nine @ Gainesville, a $54 million student housing community situated less than a quarter-mile from the University of Florida’s campus in Gainesville. Located at 1115 13th St., The Nine will feature 627 beds within one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom units. All fully furnished residences will feature private bathrooms, in-unit washer and dryer units, stainless steel appliances and private balconies. CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Novare Group and Batson-Cook Development Co. (BCDC) will open its second SkyHouse property in Uptown Charlotte, SkyHouse Uptown South Tower, tomorrow. The 24-story apartment tower sits adjacent to the first tower, and combined, the two nearly identical buildings total 672 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Amenities include the signature SkyHouse on the top floor, complete with a clubhouse, fitness facilities, swimming pool and an outdoor kitchen all with 360-degree views of the city. The properties adjoin SkyPark, a 0.9-acre open park on top of the parking deck featuring a regulation-size tennis court, athletic field, two regulation bocce ball courts, grilling area, fire pits, putting green and a walking trail. The project marks the 17th SkyHouse tower delivered by the Novare Group and BCDC partnership. CHARLESTON, S.C. — Middle Street Partners, a Charleston-based development and investment firm, has broken ground on The Atlantic at Grand Oaks, a 316-unit apartment community located along Ashley Gardens Boulevard in Charleston. Total project costs are estimated at $48 million. The property will feature 16 two- and three-story walk-up residential buildings and a 7,000–square-foot clubhouse overlooking a resort-style pool. Other amenities will include a fitness studio, business cafe and community kitchen. The Jacksonville, Fla. -based general contractor Live Oak Contracting expects to complete the property in October 2018.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — General Motors (GM) and NorthPoint Development have broken ground on Arlington Automotive Logistics Center, a two-building, 1.2 million-square-foot industrial property in Arlington that will support GM’s nearby manufacturing plant. The project is expected to be complete in 2018 and create an additional 850 jobs. Bob Moore Construction has been named general contractor for the center, which will house about 1,250 employees and provide warehouse services.

ANKENY, IOWA — The Opus Group has broken ground on a 200,700-square-foot speculative industrial building in Ankeny, about 12 miles north of Des Moines. This is the second phase of development at Corporate Woods Industrial Park, a 50-acre site that consists of a fully leased 208,000-square-foot industrial warehouse and additional space for a third facility. The park offers immediate access to I-35 and I-80. The building will feature 32-foot clear heights, one drive-in door, up to 54 dock doors, ESFR sprinkler systems and 121 parking spaces. Completion is slated for May 2018. Opus Development Co. is the developer, Opus Design Build is the design-builder and Opus AE Group is the architect and engineer of record for the project. Marcus Pitts and Jeremy Spillman of JLL will market the property for lease.

BEAVERCREEK, OHIO — Confluent Development and Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) are developing HarborChase of Beavercreek, a 110-unit assisted living and memory care community in Beavercreek, a suburb of Dayton. Slated to open in summer 2018, the 122,000-square-foot community will be located at 4175 Indian Ripple Road on a seven-acre site. The property will feature 24-hour staff, full-service dining, a barber and beauty salon, library, fitness center, game room, walking path and gardens and transportation and housekeeping services. Confluent Development will own HarborChase of Beavercreek, while HRA will manage the property. This is the second partnership for the two companies.

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD. — Trammell Crow Co. and its partner, Meadow Partners, have broken ground on the Medical Pavilion at National Harbor, a 93,100-square-foot, Class A medical office building located at 251 National Harbor Blvd., roughly 11 miles south of Washington, D.C. The five-story building will be home to medical and clinical specialties, including dermatology, wellness and functional fitness, orthopedics, primary care and an ambulatory surgery center. Located within the master-planned community developed by Peterson Cos., the Pavilion will be among amenities and attractions including the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, Tanger Outlets, The Capital Wheel and MGM National Harbor. The building was 62 percent preleased at groundbreaking. CBRE’s John Kerr and Daniel McGivney will handle the project’s leasing and marketing efforts.
