AUSTIN, TEXAS — Ridge, the industrial development branch of Transwestern Development Co., has broken ground on a 351,171-square-foot industrial project within Southpark Commerce Center in Austin. The project is expected to deliver three buildings during the fourth quarter, with each building featuring 24-foot clear heights and more than 20 dock doors and 120 parking spaces. Situated on 24.2 acres near the intersection of Interstate 35 and State Highway 71, the center will encompass 2.3 million square feet at final buildout.

CELEBRATION, FLA. — Big Rock Partners has topped off Windsor at Celebration, a new 239-unit seniors housing property in Celebration, the Disney-originated master-planned community in Central Florida. The independent living, assisted living and memory care project will be situated south of Walt Disney World along Interstate 4. The project team includes architect Gensler and construction manager Balfour Beatty Construction. Windsor at Celebration, which won’t require an up-front entrance fee, will comprise 151 independent living units, 55 one- and two-bedroom assisted living units and 33 one-bedroom memory care residences. Life Care Services, an LCS Co., will manage the new community upon completion. Big Rock Partners has launched preleasing at the project, which is set to open in spring 2018.

LOS ANGELES — Taubman Centers, Inc. has named four new restaurants that will join Beverly Center’s culinary lineup as part of the shopping and dining destination’s $500 million redevelopment. The restaurants — Cal Mare, Eggslut, Farmhouse and Yardbird — will be located on Level 1. All are expected to open by the end of 2018. A brand new 8,200-square-foot concept from James Beard Award-winning, Michelin-starred Chef Michael Mina, Cal Mare is a celebration of coastal Italian cuisine with Mediterranean and Californian influences. Farmhouse celebrates California’s bounty from local farms, markets, dairies and purveyors, situated within a new informal dining experience in a 7,000-square-foot space. Yardbird will be a 6,000-square-foot homage to farm-fresh ingredients, classic Southern cooking, culture and hospitality, helmed by award-winning restaurateur John Kunkel. Eggslut is a gourmet food concept founded in 2011 as a food truck. Every store is open throughout the renovation that is scheduled to be completed by holiday 2018. Beverly Center has more than 100 distinctive stores, including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Saint Laurent and Salvatore Ferragamo. SAN ANTONIO — Oden Hughes LLC and development partner Desarrollos Delta have broken ground on Amara Apartments, a 308-unit multifamily community located at 19327 Talavera Ridge in northwestern San Antonio. The property will consist of one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from roughly 600 to 1,365 square feet. Scheduled to open in mid-2018, the 23-acre project will be the latest addition to The Rim, a 700-acre, mixed-use development with office, retail and residential space. Austin-based Kelly Grossman Architects designed the multifamily project.

BROKEN ARROW, OKLA. — Tierpoint, a Missouri-based IT firm, will build a 60,000-square-foot data center that includes infrastructure support and office space in the Tulsa metro of Broken Arrow. The initial phase of construction, which will deliver 30,000 square feet of total space and 16,000 square feet of raised floor, will cost approximately $20 million. Completion is scheduled for late 2017. The property will be TierPoint’s fourth data center in Oklahoma.

ATLANTA — Hines and Invesco Real Estate have formed a joint venture to develop two office projects within Atlantic Station, a 138-acre mixed-use development in Midtown Atlanta. The projects include T3 West Midtown, a 200,000-square-foot heavy timber office building, and Atlantic Yards, a two-building development spanning 500,000 square feet. Hines will work with Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture as the design architect for both T3 West Midtown and Atlantic Yards. DLR Group will be the architect of record for T3 West Midtown, and Wakefield Beasley & Associates will be the architect of record for Atlantic Yards. The project’s amenities will include fitness, dining, rooftop terraces, bike storage and collaboration areas, in addition to the 550,000-square-foot retail village of Atlantic Station.

CICERO, ILL. — Bridge Development Partners LLC has unveiled plans to develop Bridge Point 290, a 323,343-square-foot industrial facility in Cicero near Chicago. The 18.5-acre site is located at 1531 S. 54th Ave., less than one mile from I-290. The site was formerly home to a General Electric manufacturing facility. George Maragos and Nicole Mentone of CBRE represented GE in the land sale. Bridge Point 290 is scheduled for completion in February 2018. The property will feature 36-foot clear heights, 50 docks, 77 trailer positions, parking for 273 cars and an ESFR sprinkler system. Premier Design + Build Group will serve as general contractor, and Cornerstone Architects will serve as architect. George Maragos, Mitch Adams and Nicole Mentone of CBRE will represent Bridge in lease-up of the building.

NORTHBROOK, ILL. — The Missner Group has completed the first phase of renovations at Northbrook Toyota, located about 25 miles north of Chicago. The building is situated at 1550 Frontage Road. The first phase of the project included a renovation to the 25,500-square-foot service area. The Missner Group remodeled the entire building by adding new electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Additionally, the Missner Group installed new HVAC systems, a new air filtration system and compressor system designed to generate power for the dealership. Improvements also included the addition of a new car delivery area, an oil containment room, expanded service lanes, remodeled service bays and new bathrooms and offices. Phase II at Northbrook Toyota will include the demolition of an existing building and the construction of a new building, which will serve as a showroom for the dealership. Additional improvements to be completed in this phase include landscaping, site work and the installation of an underground storm trap system. Heath Yarger and Angelo Christopher of the Missner Group comprised the project team for the first phase, while Ron Cinkus will oversee Phase II of the project. Eckenhoff Saunders Architects provided architectural services.

LAS VEGAS — Subway debuted its new Subway Fresh Forward design at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) RECon show in Las Vegas last week. Along with a new Subway logo, flooring, wall coverings, wall art, a curated music program and lighting, the operational flow of the restaurants is changing as well. The workspace will be updated to be more efficient, while additional pieces of equipment, like an exhaust ventilation system, will help maintain temperatures and improve air quality. Subway franchisees have already piloted the new Subway Fresh Forward design in six locations (Knoxville, Tenn.; Orlando, Fla.; Chula Vista, Calif.; Tamarac, Fla.; Vancouver, Wash.; and Manchester, England). In addition, about 50 locations are in various stages of construction around the world and more than 100 restaurants are in the design phase.
