PONTIAC, MICH. — The City of Pontiac and the stadium ownership group have agreed to demolish The Pontiac Silverdome, the former home to the Detroit Lions, according to Crain’s Detroit Business. The 127.5-acre site hosted the Lions from 1975 until the team moved to Ford Field in 2002. Neither a timeframe for the demolition nor a redevelopment plan has been established yet. Toronto-based Triple Properties Inc. has owned the stadium since 2009, when the company purchased the property from the city for $583,000. Last month, the city sued Triple Properties, citing safety code violations and illegal storage of vehicles.

WENTZVILLE, MO. — Hampton Inn St. Louis Wentzville has opened near St. Louis. The $12 million hotel features 64,000 square feet and 109 rooms. The hotel is located at 150 Wentzville Bluffs Drive in the new Wentzville Bluffs development. Amenities include a fitness center, indoor pool, meeting rooms and outdoor grill area. Midas Hospitality is managing the hotel. MC Hotel Construction, the sister company of Midas, was the general contractor.
NORTHLAKE, ILL. — Bridge Development Partners LLC has completed the Phase I expansion of the freezer facility at Bridge Point Northlake, a 55-acre business park on the site of a former distribution facility for Dominick’s grocery chain in Northlake. Phase II of the expansion, a 61,469-square-foot build-to-suit for candy maker Fannie May, is currently underway. Located at 555 Northwest Ave., Phase I is now available for lease and features a 162,000-square-foot cooler facility and a 256,752-square-foot freezer facility. Each property features clear ceiling heights of 32 to 40 feet. Bridge Development Partners acquired the site in partnership with Hunt Realty Investments and Akard Street Partners. John Suerth and Jason Lev of CBRE, who represented the previous owner in the sale, have been retained to market all three properties at Bridge Point Northlake.
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — New Brunswick Development Corp. (Devco) has begun site preparation on the Ferren Mall Parking Deck for The Hub @ New Brunswick Station in New Brunswick. Devco expects site construction of the 1.7 million-square-foot mixed-use redevelopment project to begin in April. JLL is Devco’s marketing agent for The Hub, which will be located on four acres in downtown New Brunswick directly across from the New Brunswick train station. When completed, The Hub @ New Brunswick Station will encompass multiple buildings with a flexible design to meet office or lab requirements including technology, office or research use. The development is slated to include high-rise residential units and retail at street level.
IRVING, TEXAS — WaterWalk Hotel Apartments has broken ground on WaterWalk Las Colinas, located adjacent to DFW Airport at George Bush Turnpike and West Royal Lane in Irving. WaterWalk Las Colinas will feature 153 units across two buildings and is expected to open by Memorial Day of 2018. The franchised property is owned by a group of investors based in Wichita, Kan., and led by Allan Dunne, owner and manager of Dunne Investments and Dunne Property Co. The Law Company is the general contractor on the project, and LK Architecture is the architect. Both companies are also based in Wichita. WaterWalk combines the features of an upscale extended-stay hotel with the lifestyle of apartment living. Guests may choose to stay a day, a week, a month, a year, or longer with one all-inclusive bill for utilities, DirecTV with 300 channels and premium channels, DVR, Internet, phone, gym facility and 24/7 concierge services. With the full-service package, guests receive fully furnished accommodations, housekeeping and a complimentary breakfast delivered to the suite. EDWARDSVILLE, KAN. — Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) and Lane 4 Property Group have broken ground on the $60 million Village South development in Edwardsville. The 32-acre site is located at the corner of 110th Street and I-70. The mixed-use project will include both a Holiday Inn and La Quinta hotel in addition to a 22,000-square-foot conference center and 17,000 square feet of retail space. Six additional pad sites will be available for retail uses. Minnesota-based Compass Commodity Group III is the landowner and master developer. Lane 4 is managing the first phase of construction, while ESS is doing all of the earthwork. Other members of the development team include BHC Rhodes as project engineer, Lamont Cos. as hospitality developer, Base4 Architects and Engineers as design partner and Polsinelli PC as legal counsel. Phase I construction is slated for completion in summer 2018.
LOMBARD, ILL. — McShane Construction Co. has completed Apex 41, a 181-unit luxury apartment complex in Lombard, for developer GlenStar Properties LLC. The three-acre property is located at 2760 S. Highland Ave. across from Yorktown Shopping Center. The apartments were constructed atop a two-story parking deck. The complex incorporates a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units. Amenities include a community clubhouse, fitness center, yoga studio, business center and resort-style swimming pool. Stephen Rankin Associates provided architectural services, and Greystar will manage and lease the property.
ORLANDO, FLA. — Summa Development Group will begin pre-leasing for CitiTower at Lake Eola, a 25-story, 233-unit high-rise apartment complex located at 101 Lake Ave. in downtown Orlando, in mid-April. The property consists of 74 studio apartments averaging 726 square feet per unit, 112 one-bedroom apartments averaging 778 square feet per unit, 31 two-bedroom apartments averaging 1,070 square feet per unit, and 16 three-bedroom apartments averaging 1,432 square feet per unit. Other amenities include a rooftop pool and a 24-hour fitness center. The property is slated to open in late July or early August.
NEW ORLEANS — Hilton Hotels and Resorts has opened Homewood Suites by Hilton New Orleans French Quarter, a four-story, 207-suite property located at 317 N. Rampart St. in New Orleans. The hotel offers a 24-hour fitness center, pool, kitchen and grill area and 1,500 square feet of meeting space, as well as 12 balcony suites with full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas.
CHULA VISTA, CALIF. — SCA Architecture (formerly known as Smith Consulting Architects), a San Diego-based architectural firm, has completed the planning, design and construction of a repositioning at Gateway Marketplace, located at Fourth Avenue and C Street in Chula Vista. Brixton Capital is the developer of the $9.3 million remodeling project. Situated on an 8.8-acre lot, the project consisted of renovating an abandoned Target building in an existing neighborhood. The former Target store was divided into three tenant spaces. The front of the building was set back ten feet to allow for new, distinct tenant entries. Quick-serve grocery store and restaurant spaces were added to the center as well. Updated architecture and color schemes were used to update the center’s look. The existing site was enhanced with new landscaping, lighting, pedestrian walkways and a new gateway plaza. New tenants at the center include Party City, Smart & Final, Hobby Lobby and Aldi. AT&T, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Pho Hung Cali, iNails & Spa and other tenants are slated to open later this year.
