LOS ANGELES — New Era has opened the doors to its permanent retail space — The New Era D-Lab — inside STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Inside the new 3,160-square-foot store is a ‘New Era by You’ customization area. Customers can design their own New Era cap by choosing from hundreds of team logos, colors and fabrics. The single-level store also features: • The Blocking Machine: Used to stretch a cap to fit a person’s head more comfortably, to reshape a cap to its original form and to clean a cap. • The Heat Seal Machine: Used to adhere a patch to the side of a cap. The New Era D-Lab is part of a multi-year agreement, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships in 2016, which named New Era as a founding partner and the exclusive headwear supplier of L.A. LIVE, the LA Kings, Microsoft Theater and The Novo by Microsoft. The store is located in the front of STAPLES Center on the corner of Chick Hearn Court and Figueroa, looking onto Microsoft Square.

ROMEOVILLE, ILL. — The Opus Group has unveiled plans to construct a 111,345-square-foot, speculative industrial building in Romeoville. 101 Paragon will be the second and final phase of the company’s project at Paragon Business Park. Two other speculative industrial developments were constructed in 2016. 101 Paragon will feature 30-foot clear heights, 12 loading docks and 16 trailer parking positions. Completion is slated for August 2017. Opus Development Co. LLC is the developer, Opus Design Build LLC is the design-builder and Opus AE Group LLC is the architect and structural engineer. Jason West and Sean Henrick of Cushman & Wakefield will market the property for lease.
CLEVELAND — Home2 Suites by Hilton Cleveland Beachwood has opened in Cleveland. The hotel features 91 suites with fully equipped kitchens. Amenities include a laundry and fitness area, indoor and outdoor pools and a grill area. The hotel is located at 3589 Park East Drive. Beachwood Hotels LLC is the owner and Atlantic Hospitality and Management is the manager.
HOUSTON — Thor Equities has announced the topping out of the residential tower at Kirby Collection, a 1 million-square-foot mixed-use development in Houston’s Upper Kirby District. The 25-story, 385,000-square-foot building will feature 199 apartments in 21 different floor plans, including townhomes, garden lofts and penthouses. Slated for completion in September, the property will also include a clubhouse deck with a pool and cabanas, a fitness center, business center and lounge. Additional amenities include a parking garage, valet parking and a private entrance with 24-hour security. The project team includes E.E. Reed Construction, Richard Keating Architecture, Dianna Wong Architectures + Design, Kirksey, Walter P Moore and WYLIE.
CONWAY, S.C. — Morgan Construction Co. has been awarded a contract to build its 100th and 101st Aldi stores in the Southeast. The two new stores will be located in Conway. The Chattanooga, Tenn.-based contractor has previously built Aldi stores in eight states in the region, including all six Aldi stores in southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia over the past decade. The German grocer awards contracts one project at a time, according to Morgan Construction.
AMES, IOWA — The Opus Group has completed construction of Geoffroy Hall, a 193,000-square-foot residence hall on the Iowa State University campus in Ames. The building consists of eight stories and 784 beds. Totaling 392 rooms, the student housing building also includes an activity room, study areas and community spaces on each floor. “Front porch” spaces serve as areas for residents to socialize and meet in groups. Opus Design Build LLC was the design builder while Opus AE Group LLC served as architect, structural engineer and interior designer.
SYLVANIA, OHIO — Eidi Properties is redeveloping a 2.3-acre property into a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Sylvania, along the Michigan border. The property, located at 6636 W. Central Ave., will be Chick-fil-A’s fourth freestanding location in the Toledo market and the first location in the Sylvania market. Demolition of the retail building currently at the site is slated for mid-March, and the restaurant is set to open in the summer of 2017.
HEBRON, KY. — Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) plans to build a centralized air hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) in Hebron to support its fleet of Prime Air cargo planes. The Seattle-based company expects to create more than 2,000 new jobs at the new $1.5 billion facility. “As we considered places for the long-term home for our air hub operations, Hebron quickly rose to the top of the list with a large, skilled workforce, centralized location with great connectivity to our nearby fulfillment locations and an excellent quality of living for employees,” says Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations. Last year, Amazon entered into agreements with Atlas Air Worldwide and Air Transport Services Inc. to lease 40 cargo airplanes to support members of its Prime program, which offers its members free two-day shipping. Sixteen of those cargo planes are currently in service, and the e-commerce giant plans to roll out more planes over time. BOSTON — New Balance Athletics Inc. and John Hancock Financial have partnered to develop The Residences at Boston Landing, a 17-story apartment building located near the New Balance headquarters in Boston. Hancock is taking a major equity stake in the project, which is slated to open in June 2018. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the property will feature 295 units in a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, 16,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space, an activity lounge, outdoor courtyard and pool, pet grooming station and bicycle storage. The Residences at Boston Landing will be a residential building within Boston Landing, which is a 15.2-acre mixed-use development. Other buildings at the development are occupied by New Balance, the Boston Bruins Practice and Training facility and the future practice and training facility of the Boston Celtics. Future plans for the development include the construction of a 290,000-square-foot sports complex. PinPoint, LifeWell Start Construction of 86-Unit Seniors Housing Community in Amarillo, Texas

AMARILLO, TEXAS — PinPoint Senior Living and LifeWell Senior Living LLC have started construction of The Legacy at Town Square, an 86-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Amarillo. The companies plan to complete the project in late fall 2017. PinPoint is a Houston-based seniors housing developer with 14 communities open or in development. LifeWell is a Houston-based seniors housing operator with nine communities open or in development in Texas, Florida and New Mexico.
