KANSAS CITY, MO. — Flex Build has finished the renovation of Watts Mill Shopping Center in Kansas City. The 40,000-square-foot center, located at 103rd Street and State Line Road, has tenant spaces ranging from 1,400 square feet to 11,933 square feet. Current tenants include Jasper’s Italian restaurant, Ugly Joe’s Bar & Grill, Goodyear Tires and more. The renovation included a new façade, parking lot, LED lighting, landscaping elements and a remodeled sign. Mirason Properties LLC is the longtime owner of the center, while Block & Co. Inc. is handling management and leasing.

WESTFIELD, IND. — Engineering Facility Solutions (EFS) has completed work on the new $8.1 million Jonathan Byrd’s Fieldhouse at Grand Park in Westfield, about 20 miles north of Indianapolis. The 88,000-square-foot indoor sports facility is located at the Grand Park Sports Complex. EFS was the engineer of record and installing contractor for the design/build HVAC project. EFS designed and installed rooftop heating and cooling units to serve eight basketball and volleyball courts, mezzanine viewing area, a restaurant with full kitchen, administrative offices and concession area. EFS also installed gas piping, kitchen hood and kitchen ductwork, a make-up air system and controls. Lauth Construction was the general contractor.

KANSAS CITY, MO. — CVS Pharmacy, the retail division of Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Health (NYSE: CVS), plans to build a 762,000-square-foot distribution center within Skyport Industrial Park in Kansas City. Development costs are estimated at $110 million. The 71-acre facility will be situated at 108th Street and North Congress near Kansas City International Airport and I-29. CVS Pharmacy expects to break ground on the project in January and begin operations in 2018. The new distribution center will support the service and fulfillment needs of more than 370 CVS Pharmacy stores throughout the Midwest.  The new distribution center is expected to create more than 360 new jobs, as well as up to 100 additional jobs that will be outsourced to local businesses. The Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) worked closely with CVS Pharmacy in bringing the new distribution center to the Kansas City region. COLUMBUS, OHIO — Nationwide Realty Investors has unveiled plans for a second phase of Parks Edge, a luxury condominium development in Columbus. The property is located at the corner of Spring Street and Neil Avenue in the Arena District. The second phase will be located directly to the east of the first phase, and will feature a 12-story, 82-unit building. It will include 19 different floor plans with a mix of two-bedroom flats and two- and three-bedroom townhomes ranging from 1,600 to more than 2,600 square feet. Pricing for condominiums in the building will range from $465,000 to over $1 million. Construction of the West building in Phase I is scheduled for completion in spring 2017. Pending approval by the Downtown Commission, construction is expected to begin on the East building in early 2017 with completion slated for 2018.

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO. — Draper and Kramer Inc. continues leasing up the first phase of EVO, a four-phase apartment development that will bring more than 800 luxury apartment units to suburban St. Louis. Located at 9015 Eager Road in Richmond Heights, EVO includes four planned apartment buildings that are scheduled to be completed by 2020. EVO’s first phase of construction, expected to be complete in early 2017, features a four-story apartment complex with 281 units, including studio, one- and two-bedroom residences. Rents start at $1,100 and floor plans measure from 572 to 1,210 square feet. Holland Construction Services Inc. has already broken ground on the second phase, which will include 46 townhome-style residences.

WINTER SPRINGS, FLA. — Watermark Retirement Communities has started construction of The Watermark at Vistawilla, an 89-unit memory care community in the Orlando suburb of Winter Springs. Watermark, The Freshwater Group and development partners Rookis Investment Partners and Gulf Coastal Development Inc. broke ground on the community earlier in December. The project is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2017. Tampa-based Chancey Design Partnership designed the project. Watermark will both own and operate the community. Watermark Retirement Communities, based in Tucson, Ariz., is the 13th largest operator of seniors housing communities in the United States, managing 6,713 units across 36 communities, according to the American Seniors Housing Association’s 2016 calculations.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Woodmont Properties and Roseland Residential Trust have commenced construction for Metropolitan Lofts, a luxury apartment building located at 11 Dehart St. in Morristown. The building will feature 59 units in a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and 1,100 square feet of ground-level retail space. On-site amenities include a fitness center and golf simulator. The building is the final component of a mixed-use redevelopment project that combines residential space with 53,000 square feet of retail space at the Shops on the Green and a 795-car public parking facility.

TACOMA, WASH. — Industrial Property Trust (IPT) has purchased a 58-acre former sawmill in Tacoma for an undisclosed sum. The space is located at 733 E. 11th St. IPT plans to build a 1.1 million-square-foot industrial facility on the property. The IPT Tacoma Logistics Center will include two buildings. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2018. Tony Kusak of Cushman & Wakefield Commerce executed the transaction. The seller was Interfor.

PHOENIX — National Healthcare Realty and Development has announced plans to build McDowell Medical Commons, a 25,000-square-foot medical office building in Phoenix. The project will be located at 10650 W. McDowell Road. The Class A project will be situated at the northeast corner of 107th Avenue and McDowell Road. McDowell Medical Commons is slated for groundbreaking in 2017. Rachel Thompson and Michael Dupuy of Colliers International will serve as the project’s exclusive leasing agents.
