BARTLETT, ILL. — Meridian Design Build has started construction on a new 421,403-square-foot speculative industrial building for Exeter Property Group in Bartlett, a northwest suburb of Chicago. The new facility will be located on a 34-acre site within Brewster Creek Business Park. The multi-tenant building, which features a 32-foot clear height, is designed to accommodate up to four tenants, 117 loading docks, four drive-in doors, 449 auto parking stalls and 110 exterior trailer stalls. Harris Architects is providing architectural services, while V3 Cos. is completing civil engineering work.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Trump Hotels has officially opened the Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C., a 263-room luxury hotel located at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W. in Washington, D.C. The hotel is a $212 million redevelopment of the former Old Post Office. Hotel rooms feature 16-foot ceilings, crystal sconces and chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows. Guest amenities include the Benjamin Bar & Lounge, BLT Prime by David Burke, The Spa by Ivanka Trump, a Brioni menswear boutique store and a 13,200-square-foot ballroom. The hotel includes the 4,000-square-foot Presidential Suite, which is located in the former Postmaster General’s office. The suite features three bedrooms, walk-in closets, a fireplace, dining room with butler’s pantry, master bath featuring Calacatta Gold marble and a fitness center. The property will also include the 6,300-square-foot Trump Townhouse, a two-level suite that features a private entrance on Pennsylvania Avenue, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, private office, workout room and a dining room with seating for up to 24 people.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Q Hotels plans to develop and operate a $39.5 million, dual-branded Marriott hotel property at 3800 S. Collins St. in Arlington. Construction on the combined SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites will begin in December and end in summer 2018. The 230-room hotel will include 130 suites for traditional hotel guests and 100 extended-stay suites. Outdoor amenities will include an event lawn and amphitheater-style entertaining space. Indoor amenities will include a gym, steam room, dry sauna and restaurants.

GRIMES, IOWA — Hubbell Realty Co. has begun construction on the fourth industrial building at Grimes Distribution Center, located at 1300 SE Little Beaver Drive near Des Moines. The 110,000-square-foot facility will be identical to the three other buildings. Grimes Distribution Center 4, located minutes from I-80/35 via Iowa Highway 141, has the ability to accommodate tenant space requirements in 10,000-square-foot increments, complete with a 24-foot clear ceiling height. The building is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in June 2017. Similar to the first three buildings, Grimes Distribution Center 4 will contain eleven 10,000-square-foot bays that measure 50-by-200 feet. Each bay will feature a 9-by-10 foot dock, and four of the bays will have 16-foot drive-in doors. The building will be fitted with an early suppression fast response (ESFR) fire sprinkler system; a 480-volt, three-phase 2,500 amp electric service; and T-8 fluorescent lighting.

ST. LOUIS — McGrath & Associates has completed construction of the $1.9 million expansion and renovation of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women international headquarters in St. Louis. The 4,200-square-foot, two-story expansion connects to Pi Beta Phi’s international headquarters building on Town and Country Commons Drive in West St. Louis County, which McGrath built in 2002. The expansion includes an enlarged break room, conference room and mailroom on the first floor, and office space and expanded archives on the second floor. HKW was the architect.

WOODBURY, MINN. — The City of Woodbury, a suburb of St. Paul, has selected general contractor RJM Construction to renovate its city council chambers. Beginning in December, RJM will install new finishes in the chambers, including increasing the size of an adjacent conference room used for city workshops and meetings. The city also plans to add security and make improvements to the audio, visual and lighting systems. The project team also includes Welsh Architecture.

RICHMOND, VA. — DKJ Richmond LLC, a partnership between associates of The Monument Cos. and The Edison Co., plans to develop a $44 million mixed-use project adjacent to Richmond’s Carytown district. Known as Cary Street Station, the project is a redevelopment of a historic bus and trolley barn. Situated at the corner of Cary and Robinson streets, Cary Street Station will feature two commercial buildings totaling 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space and a 1,000-square-foot patio. The bus and trolley barn will be converted to 285 luxury apartment units, with residents moving in by the end of the year. DKJ Richmond plans to deliver the commercial space by the summer of 2017. The developer has hired The Shopping Center Group and JLL to lease the retail and office portions of Cary Street Station.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. — ROEM Development Corp. has opened the 116-unit Evelyn Family Apartments in Mountain View. The $64 million affordable housing community is located at the southwest intersection of East Evelyn and South Bernardo avenues. The property was built using 4 percent low-income housing tax credits. Citi Community Capital provided $32 million in tax-exempt construction financing. AEGON provided investment support, with the City of Mountain View providing an additional $22.3 million. The architect is Withee Malcolm Architects. The nonprofit partner is Pacific Housing. The general contractor is ROEM Builders.

LOS ANGELES — SG Blocks and Alvarado Restaurant Group will move a former popup Taco Bell location to its permanent location in the South Gate submarket of Los Angeles. The five-module, 1,080-square-foot restaurant was previously used at the 2016 South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas. Alvarado Restaurant Group, part of Alvarado Cos., is the franchise owner for the Taco Bell in South Gate. SG Blocks partnered with Alvarado Construction Inc. to install the Taco Bell at its new, permanent location. The companies are currently completing all final utility work, paving and landscaping. Alvarado Cos. currently owns 110 other Taco Bells in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Wisconsin and California. The Taco Bell will be open at its permanent home in South Gate by the end of 2016.

GLENDALE, ARIZ. — Golf equipment and apparel retailer PGA TOUR Superstore recently acquired a Sports Authority location in Glendale, with plans to open a store in the building by January 2017. Glendale represents the company’s fifth Arizona location, joining Chandler, North Scottsdale, Scottsdale and Tucson. Each store is staffed with PGA of America teaching professionals and houses up to 14 state-of-the-art swing simulators and hitting bays, putting green, and in-house club making and repair facility. Golf & Tennis Pro Shop Inc., a subsidiary of AMB Group LLC, operates all PGA TOUR Superstores. The company is headquartered in Roswell, Ga.
