ORLAND PARK, ILL. — Caddis and Pathway Senior Living have begun construction on Heartis Village Orland Park, a seniors housing community in Orland Park, 26 miles southwest of Chicago. The 94-unit, 89,950-square-foot assisted living and memory care community will be located at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue. A Caddis affiliate will own the community, and Pathway Senior Living LLC will be the operator. Amenities will include fitness classes, excursions, games, movies, fishing, boating and horseback riding. The community will feature a salon and spa, two interior courtyards, a private dining room, arts and crafts room, media room, 24-hour emergency call system, laundry services and personal transportation. Heartis Village Orland Park will be complete in fall 2017. Austin, Texas-based Katus LLC is the architect for the project, and McShane Construction Co. is the general contractor.

SOUTH MIAMI, FLA. — TREO Group plans to build an eight-story office building at the corner of US 1 and Sunset Drive in South Miami. The Class A, transit-oriented project will connect directly to the Metrorail at the South Miami station. TREO Group has selected Tony Puente and Jose Juncadella of Fairchild Partners to handle leasing the building, known as SoMi Station. Perkins + Will designed the property to feature ground-floor shops and restaurants. TREO Group plans to deliver the office building in the fall of 2018.
Alexander Investments Breaks Ground on $102M Multifamily Portfolio in Central Florida

CLEARWATER AND LONGWOOD, FLA. — Alexander Investments International has begun construction on The Alexander at Countryside in Clearwater and The Alexander at Sabal Point in Longwood. The $102 million investment will total 616 apartment units featuring one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts with nine-foot ceilings, 42-inch cabinets, quartz or granite countertops, wood-style plank flooring and screened verandas. Both projects will feature clubhouses with fitness centers, game rooms, bar areas, resort-style pools with gazebos, fire pits and grilling stations. The 330-unit Alexander at Countryside will rent from $1,100 to $2,000 per month, and the 286-unit Alexander at Sabal Point will rent from $980 to $1,800 per month. Alexander Investments plans to deliver both assets by the end of 2017.
DETROIT — Shinola, a wristwatch and bicycle manufacturer, has teamed up with Bedrock Real Estate Services LLC to develop the Shinola Hotel, a 130-room hotel located at 1400 Woodward Ave. in downtown Detroit. The new hotel is set to open in the fall of 2018. Detroit-based Kraemer Design Group is the architect of record for the Shinola Hotel, and New York-based NoHo Hospitality Group will handle the hotel’s food and beverage program. The hotel will feature Detroit-inspired design from Gachot Studios. Detroit-based Bedrock is a full-service commercial real estate firm owned by Dan Gilbert, founder of Quicken Loans and owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bedrock owns over 90 properties totaling more than 15 million square feet.
HUBER HEIGHTS, OHIO — Miller-Valentine Group plans to develop WaterStone at Carriage Trails, a 192-unit apartment community at the intersection of I-70 and Route 201 within the Carriage Trails master-planned development in Huber Heights, about nine miles outside of Dayton. The apartment community will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom residences with rents starting from $911 for a one-bedroom unit, $1,100 for a two-bedroom unit and $1,165 for a three-bedroom unit. Unit interiors will feature wood-style flooring, private balconies and patios, kitchen islands, in-unit washers and dryers, quartz countertops, walk-in closets and stainless steel appliances. Community amenities will include a resort-style pool, 4,500-square-foot clubhouse, cyber café, coffee bar, billiards room, TV lounge, fitness center with yoga room, private dog park and rentable entertainment areas. The development team includes architect CR Architecture + Design, landscape architect POD Design, interior designer Mitsch Design, civil engineer American StructurePoint and general contractor Miller-Valentine Residential Construction.
Cordish Breaks Ground on $200M Hotel, Event Center at Maryland Live! Casino in Metro Baltimore

HANOVER, MD. — The Cordish Cos. of Baltimore has begun construction on a $200 million, 17-story hotel and event center at the Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, roughly 11 miles south of Baltimore. Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2017, the 350,000-square-foot property will feature 310 guest rooms, a 1,500-seat event center, meeting spaces, restaurants, a store, 1,000 parking spaces and a day spa/salon. The project is expected to create approximately 400 jobs and 550 construction jobs. The design team includes Klai Juba Wald Architects, McLaren Engineering Group, Laurence Lee Associates, Cleo Design Corp., Selbert Perkins, Corsi & Associates, Lynne Curry Spa Consulting, Giovanetti Schulman Association and EDSA. Tutor Perini Building Corp. will serve as the hotel’s general contractor.
Mill Creek Residential to Develop High-Rise Apartment Tower in Atlanta’s Buckhead District

ATLANTA — Mill Creek Residential plans to develop Modera by Mill Creek – Buckhead, a 21-story multifamily high-rise located at 3005 Peachtree Road N.E. in Atlanta’s Buckhead district. Situated at the corner of Peachtree and Pharr roads adjacent to Buckhead Atlanta, the community will feature 400 luxury apartment homes and more than 21,000 square feet of high-end retail space. Mill Creek is developing the property in a joint venture with Elite International Investment Fund, a real estate investment platform backed by Asian capital. Community amenities will include two outdoor terraces with swimming pools, a rooftop terrace, rooftop dog park, destination sky bar, demonstration kitchen, indoor spa, steam room, yoga studio, juice bar, fitness center and an open-air social lounge. Mill Creek expects pre-leasing and initial move-ins at the high-rise for summer 2018.
LOS ANGELES — Overton Moore Properties (OMP) has broken ground on the Point @ Simi Valley Business Center, a 141,000-square-foot industrial development in Los Angeles. The four-building project will be situated two blocks south of Interstate 118 and about 10 minutes from the San Fernando Valley. The site is one of the last remaining parcels within the 87-acre master-planned project. OMP acquired the site from Coca Cola in October 2015. The Class A development is scheduled for completion in April 2017. The project is available for sale immediately. It will accommodate users between 30,000 square feet and 42,000 square feet. Millie & Severson is building the project, which HPA designed.
ATLANTA — NCR Corp., a global finance technology firm, plans to expand its new world headquarters campus currently under construction in Midtown Atlanta. The $145 million expansion will add a 14-story tower, which will be connected to a 20-story office tower that is set to open in the first quarter of 2018. The second tower is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in the first quarter of 2019. Currently headquartered in Duluth, Ga., NCR will bring more than 1,800 employees to the headquarters campus, which will feature amenities such as eateries with outdoor seating, a coffee bar, gym, informal gathering places and a large lecture space. NCR and Cousins Properties entered into a long-term, build-to-suit lease for the second tower, which will be owned and developed by Cousins, as is the first tower. NCR, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Invest Atlanta have agreed on additional incentives for the new tower.
Childress Klein, Crosland Southeast Begin Construction on Office Building Within Waverly in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-based developers Childress Klein and Crosland Southeast have begun construction on The Hub, a six-story, 154,000-square-foot office building within the Waverly in south Charlotte. Designed by RJT+R, the building will feature exposed ceilings; modern lobbies and restrooms; a four-level, 840-space parking garage; and flexible floor plans. The Waverly is a 90-acre mixed-use development located at the intersection of Providence and Ardrey Kell roads. General contractor Shelco LLC expects to deliver The Hub in May 2017. Childress Klein and Crosland Southeast are co-developing the office building, the first of two within Waverly, in partnership with the Matthews family.
