ORLANDO, FLA. — Orlando-based Williams Co. Building Division has broken ground on a new $60.7 million school located at 701 W. Livingston St. in downtown Orlando on behalf of Orange County Public Schools. The unnamed school will serve roughly 1,211 preschool to eighth grade students on its 14-acre campus. The preschool wing is being supported by the Harris Rosen Foundation and a branch of the Boys & Girls Club. Construction on the 190,526-square-foot facility is slated for completion in summer 2017 in time for the school’s fall 2017 opening. Orlando-based Baker Barrios Architects designed the project.

GLENVIEW, ILL. — The Missner Group has completed a medical office build-out for Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) OrthoAccess. The property, located at 2401 Ravine Way in Glenview approximately 20 miles northwest of Chicago, is a walk-in clinic designed to treat sports injuries and minor auto accident injuries. The build-out included the addition of an entire floor of exam rooms, nursing stations and three waiting areas. The new space for IBJI also features an on-site X-ray suite and renovated reception area. Stephen Rankin Associates provided the architectural services for the project.
NEW YORK CITY — Riverside Developers is constructing The William Vale, a 21-story boutique hotel in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. Slated to open in late June, the hotel will feature 183 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, complimentary WiFi, smart television systems and turndown service. Additional hotel features include a 60-foot pool and deck, rooftop lounge, 24-hour fitness center, a ballroom and meeting rooms, as well as food and beverage options led by NoHo Hospitality Group and Chef Andrew Carmellini. Albo Liberis designed the hotel, which is located on Wythe Avenue between 12th and 13th streets.
MORROW, GA. — U.S. Properties Group has completed an extensive makeover of the former Southlake Pavilion in Morrow, a suburb of south Atlanta roughly 10 miles down I-75 from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Now known as The Shoppes at Morrow Station, the 485,685-square-foot retail center will feature a Nam Dae Mun Farmers Market that will replace a vacant 100,000-square-foot Target this summer. Other tenants include a newly renovated Ashley Furniture store, Ross Dress for Less, Party City and Barnes & Noble.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Atlanta-based TWO Capital Partners and its capital advisor Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group have begun construction on Capital Crossing at Whitehall, a 271-unit apartment community in Charlotte’s Whitehall submarket. The community will be located adjacent to the 700-acre Whitehall Corporate Center and a planned Topgolf. Construction is anticipated to take approximately 18 months with lease-up commencing in the spring of 2017. Patterson arranged a roughly $25 million construction loan with Texas Capital Bank NA for the development, according to sources familiar with the transaction.
Stratford Land Sells Two Tracts in Metro Atlanta to Main Event, Children’s Learning Adventure

SUWANEE, GA. ¬— Stratford Land, a land investment company based in Dallas, has sold two tracts of land at the Terraces at Suwanee Gateway in Suwanee, a northeast suburb of Atlanta in Gwinnett County. The lots were purchased by Main Event Entertainment, a bowling-anchored entertainment retailer, and Children’s Learning Adventure, an early childhood education provider. Main Event operates 25 entertainment centers that feature bowling lanes, laser tag, gravity ropes courses and interactive games, as well as a full bar for adults and dining areas. Operating in 11 states, Children’s Learning Adventure locations typically include a planetarium, multimedia room with a mock TV studio, library, technology center, art studio, indoor basketball court, bowling lanes, cooking stations, dance studio, ballet studio, outdoor playground and outdoor basketball and tennis courts. Terraces at Suwanee Gateway is bounded by I-85, Satellite Boulevard, Lawrenceville-Suwanee Highway and McGinnis Ferry Road. McDonald’s and Starbucks Coffee have recently opened stores at the mixed-use development after purchasing lots from Stratford Land in 2015. Since purchasing 113 acres at Suwanee Gateway in 2010 and 2011, Stratford Land has sold tracts for a 345-unit apartment community; Salude, a 64-bed skilled nursing facility; and a site for a future data center.
CHICAGO — Sedgwick Properties has completed the development of a 43,000-square-foot LA Fitness in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood. The building is located at 55th Street and Kedzie Avenue. Other retailers in the surrounding area include Walgreens, Wendy’s, Marquette Bank, Pete’s Fresh Market, T-Mobile, McDonald’s and a Bank of America branch. This LA Fitness facility features free weights, a cardio center, swimming pool, basketball court, fitness studios, indoor cycling, a childcare service and locker rooms with saunas and whirlpool spas. The project is located near the Chicago Transit Authority’s Orange Line and is the retailer’s 13th location in Chicago. Sedgwick served as the designer, developer and general contractor for the facility.
CHICAGO — Meridian Design Build has completed a 219,858-square-foot industrial property in Chicago. The automated package sortation and distribution center is located on 41.3 acres and boasts more than 3,000 feet of expressway frontage along the north side of I-55 at South Damen Avenue. The facility features 61 loading docks, 156 interior van loading positions, 8,153 square feet of office space, 452 auto parking spaces and 301 trailer stalls. Cornerstone Architects provided architectural services, and Spaceco Inc. was the civil engineer of record.
CHICAGO — Luxury Living Chicago Realty has opened Phase II of Madison Throop Place, a 72-unit luxury apartment building in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood. The four-story building, located at 1247-1249 W. Madison St., includes one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Units at Madison Throop Place range from 820 square feet to 1,290 square feet with monthly rents varying from $2,350 to $3,900. Residents can move into Phase II apartments starting in June. All units at the apartment building include bamboo hardwood floors, 10-foot ceilings, crown molding, stainless steel appliances, custom-designed closets, in-unit washers and dryers and a space in the building’s heated parking garage. Michigan Avenue Real Estate Group is the project developer, and Luxury Living Chicago Realty is providing leasing and brokerage services.
HOUSTON — CityCentre Five is now open in Houston’s CityCentre district. The 192,357-square-foot, Class A office building features 8,216 square feet of ground-floor retail/restaurant space, as well as 690 parking spots. The pedestrian-oriented CityCentre district attracts nearly 15,000 visitors per day. Houston-based Kirksey Architecture and Munoz + Albin designed the 15-story building, which is located at 825 Town & Country Way. Linbeck served as the general contractor. Tenants already committed include Ascot Underwriting, Relevant Solutions and University Lands. Colvill Office Properties is overseeing leasing.
