BOSTON — Leggat McCall Properties, along with its joint venture partner Multi-Employer Property Trust (MEPT), and development advisor Bozzuto Development Co. have filed an expanded Project Notification Form with the Boston Redevelopment Authority for 3.1 acres of land in Boston’s South End. The site was acquired from the Boston Medical Center in late 2014. Spanning the block between Harrison Avenue and Albany Street and East Dedham and East Canton streets, the Harrison Albany project will bring a mix of residential, retail, office and cultural space to the South End. The proposed two-building project will feature 710 apartments, 14,000 square feet of retail space, 40,000 square feet of office space and public open space, including a green promenade between the two residential buildings. Additionally, the existing parking lots will be removed and replaced with underground parking.

ELGIN, ILL. — Kinzie Real Estate Group will construct a new luxury rental community in Elgin, approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago. Kinzie, which will serve as the general contractor for Watermark at the Grove, is expected to break ground on the project in April. Watermark at the Grove will be situated on 11 acres and will include 258 units within five three-story buildings. Floor plans will include studios, one- and two-bedroom units. Amenities will feature a clubhouse, event space, a fitness facility, theater room, outdoor pool, dog park, walking trails and secure auto and bike parking. Interstate Partners LLC is the project developer.
DORAL, FLA. — Suffolk Construction and The Related Group have topped off Phase II of City Place Doral, a mixed-use and residential development in Doral, a western suburb of Miami. Upon completion at year-end 2016, the project will feature 300,000 square feet of retail including entertainment, dining, spa and fitness components. The project will also feature 280,000 square feet of Class A office space and 322 residential units. Last year, The Related Group secured a $137 million construction loan for the development. In 2014, Suffolk Construction completed Phase I of the project, Manor at City Place Doral.
KATY, TEXAS — Lowe’s Cos. will build a 100,000-square-foot Lowe’s Home Improvement store at The Shoppes at Cinco Ranch in Katy. Thor Equities is developing retail stores and restaurant spaces throughout the remainder of the 35-acre property. Current tenants at The Shoppes at Cinco Ranch include Walgreens, with Kroger and Academy Sports + Outdoors located across the street. The Shoppes at Cinco Ranch is accessible via the Westpark Tollway and bisected by Spring Green Boulevard, with parking and sidewalks throughout the property. Nearby amenities include several golf courses, more than 100 neighborhood parks, a beach club, water park and more than 100 miles of hiking and biking trails.
DALLAS — Street Lights Residential and Tricon Capital Group Inc. have broken ground on a high-rise apartment community located at the corner of Harvard Avenue and Tracy Street in the Knox Henderson neighborhood of Dallas. The project, named The McKenzie, is a 22-floor building that will offer 183 units ranging from 990 to 2,700 square feet. The McKenzie will include one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans with limited penthouse units. The average unit size is 1,600 square feet. Amenities will include a bar, garden room, fitness room, valet service, elevated pool deck and outdoor dining. The apartments are scheduled to be available in early 2018. Looney Ricks Kiss Architects is the architect for the project, Linda Tycher & Associates is handling landscape architecture and Waldrop + Nichols Studio is the interior designer.
Crosland Southeast, Childress Klein Sign Horizon Eye Care to Lease in Waverly Development

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crosland Southeast and Childress Klein have signed Horizon Eye Care to an 8,300-square-foot lease at Waverly, a 90-acre master-planned development in Charlotte. The eye care provider will occupy space in a 22,000-square-foot medical office building located at 11835 Southmore Drive near the intersection of Providence Road and Providence Country Club Drive. The property will be located next to Novant Health’s urgent care and family healthcare practices. Construction began in February on new the medical office building. Travis Hart and Jenny Fowler of Childress Klein represented the ownership group in the lease transaction.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Bridge Development Partners is developing Bridge Point South Brunswick Manor, a speculative industrial distribution facility in South Brunswick. Situated on 35 acres, the 488,800-square-foot facility will feature 36-foot clear ceiling heights; 98 truck dock positions; two drive-in doors; an ESFR fire protection sprinkler system; and 800-amp, 277/480-volt electrical service. Additionally, the property will feature a parking lot with 100 spaces for cars and 85 spaces for trailers. Premier Design + Build is serving as general contractor for the building, which is slated for delivery in third quarter 2016.
BALLSTON, VA. — The Shooshan Co. and Brandywine Realty Trust plan to build a 22-story mixed-use high-rise project for the final portion of their Liberty Center development at 4040 Wilson Blvd. in Ballston, roughly six miles west of Washington, D.C. The first two floors will house retail space (34,000 square feet), the next eight floors will comprise office space (190,000 square feet) and the top 12 floors will feature 245 residential units. Both the office and residential components will have separate roof terraces. VIDA Fitness has signed a letter of intent to occupy 30,000 square feet at the site between the second floor and the B1 level. Shooshan has already built out the five-level, below-grade parking garage at the site that features 550 car spaces. Liberty Center is a 2.3 million-square-foot, eight-property development within walking distance of the Ballston Metro. At full build-out the development is expected to house 5,000 people.
Signet Development, Kelley Properties to Develop Student Housing Community Near Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Signet Development, in partnership with Kelley Properties Inc., will begin construction on Deacon Place, a 328-bed student housing community adjacent to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. The property, located at the intersection of Long Road and University Drive near the north entrance to campus, will comprise 82 units. Construction is expected to begin in late spring, with completion expected for the fall 2017 school year.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — A joint venture partnership between The Rockefeller Group and Korman Communities has started construction on AVE Florham Park, a flexible-stay community located within The Green at Florham Park in Florham Park. Slated to open in 2017, the 450,000-square-foot property will feature 256 corporate suites for corporate housing and relocations and 40,000 square feet of outdoor amenities, including a private courtyard with sitting areas and chess stations, a community courtyard with lap pool and sundeck, a ping pong table, bocce ball court, a kitchen with barbeque area, a movie screen, fire pits and cabanas. Additionally, the property will feature 24,000 square feet of indoor amenities, including an indoor media center, café with weekday club breakfast, conference suites, a fitness center, a yoga studio, a spa and a 24-hour concierge. The Green at Florham Park is The Rockefeller Group’s 268-acre master-planned development. Additional plans for The Green at Florham Park include a 425-unit active adult residential community, to be developed by Pulte Homes on 100 acres, and an Archer Hotel.
