LONG GROVE, ILL. — William A. Randolph Inc. has broken ground on Long Grove Senior Care, a project in Long Grove, approximately 35 miles northwest of Chicago. GART Partners selected William A. Randolph Inc. to serve as the general contractor for the two-story, 100-unit senior living community, which includes assisted living and memory care. The project will be situated on 10 acres and will feature a bistro, a pub and billiards room, outdoor patios, walking paths, gardens, a theater and a greenhouse.

CANTON, GA. — Batson-Cook Construction has topped out the $195 million Northside Hospital Cherokee project in Canton, a northern suburb of Atlanta in Cherokee County. The 525,000-square-foot hospital will replace Northside’s existing 200,000-square-foot, 96-bed hospital on Hospital Road. Since breaking ground in early 2013, the construction project has encompassed 508 tons of steel and 700,000 cubic feet of concrete. Batson-Cook and the joint venture architectural firms of HRD/HDR worked with Northside Hospital for more than two years during the pre-construction phase of the project. Batson-Cook plans to deliver the replacement hospital in January 2017. The Northside Hospital healthcare system is an 838-bed, not-for-profit healthcare provider with more than 120 locations across metro Atlanta, including three acute care hospitals in Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth counties.
DALLAS — Trammell Crow Co. and MetLife have begun construction on Park District in the heart of downtown Dallas, the Arts District, Uptown and Klyde Warren Park. The two-tower mixed-use development spans more than 900,000 square feet of Class A office space, restaurants and residences. The 20-story office tower, PwC Tower at Park District, will feature 500,000 square feet of Class A office space with 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a global professional services firm providing assurance, tax and advisory services, is the building’s anchor tenant, occupying 200,000 square feet on floors 12-19. The tower features fitness facilities, outdoor common spaces, on-site banking and a valet. The lobby will include a conference center, executive lounge and a “great room” for tenants to use as an alternative workspace. Trammell Crow’s residential subsidiary, High Street Residential, is developing the 33-story Residences at Park District, which will feature 253 units and 13,000 square feet of retail space fronting Klyde Warren Park. Residents will have access to an amenity deck with a pool overlooking the park and the Dallas skyline, a fitness center, valet and concierge services. WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Peebles Corp. has partnered with sbe to develop SLS Lux Hotel & Residences, a luxury hotel and condominium project at 901 5th St. in Washington, D.C. This will be the first SLS property in the nation’s capital. The development will comprise 198 hotel rooms, 59 condominium residences and 7,600 square feet of retail space. Los Angeles-based sbe, and its real estate subsidiary, Dakota Development, will develop, manage and operate the mixed-use development, known as 5th and I. As part of its agreement with The District of Columbia, The Peebles Corp. will also develop workforce housing in an under-developed area east of the Anacostia River, on land it has long-owned. Peebles will also renovate two parks, Milian Park and Seaton Park.
YUMA, ARIZ. — MCR Development LLC has completed the renovation of the 108-room Homewood Suites by Hilton Yuma. The hotel is located at 1955 E. 16th St. in Yuma. The renovation included an update to the hotel’s public gathering spaces and guest suites. Homewood now features modern furniture and décor in each guestroom, while the lobby was redesigned to provide open gathering space. Yuma is home to the U.S. Army Proving Ground, the principal demand testing facility for weapons and missile systems, which is one of the largest military installations in the world. The hotel is also situated near a variety of other government and healthcare demand generators. MCR Development owns and operates the property.
Watermark, Freshwater, Weitz Break Ground on $21M Seniors Housing Community in Arizona

TUCSON, ARIZ. — The Weitz Company, a design and construction firm based in Phoenix, has broken ground on Hacienda at the River, a $21 million seniors housing community in Tucson. A joint venture of The Freshwater Group and Watermark Retirement Communities is developing the community, which Watermark will manage upon completion. The new community will feature a 74,000-square-foot, two-story health care center offering short-term, long-term and hospice care. Hacienda at the River will include a 50-bed rehab unit, 12 long-term nursing care beds and 12 hospice beds. Also included are 69 assisted living and memory care units spread over a 43,000-square-foot village of single-story homes. The property will also house a 1,600-square-foot stable to offer equine therapy to residents.
MARINA, DEL REY, CALIF. — TCA Architects has unveiled the multifamily component of Neptune Marina, a waterfront development that will include a new marina and boater facilities in Marina Del Rey. The 526 units will feature a mid-century modern design. The project will include elevated courtyards only accessible to residents, as well as lobbies and boater facilities on the public edges to supplement the surrounding promenades. Neptune Marina is already under construction, and is scheduled for completion in 2018.
CEDAR PARK, TEXAS – Riverside Resources has begun construction on the first phase of a 100-acre mixed use campus on Parmer Lane in Cedar Park. The first phase of the campus, called Presidio, will feature 74,000 square feet of office space, a 100-room hotel, 320 urban lofts and 21,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space. The initial phase spans 26 acres off the southeast corner of Parmer Lane and Ranch Trails Court. The remaining 74 acres is on the other side of Ranch Trails Court. Presidio will be able to accommodate an office campus with upwards of 500,000 square feet, along with additional lofts, retail and restaurant space. The design’s intent is to bring a more urban, walkable mixed-use campus to Parmer Lane and Cedar Park, with a trail system, local restaurants, a park and a food trailer court. The Phase I office building has been 50 percent pre-leased to American Constructors and will be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2016. CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crescent Communities is developing a transit-oriented, mixed-use development in Charlotte’s NoDa (North Davidson Arts and Entertainment) district called Crescent NoDa. The project will be located at the planned 36th Street Lynx Blue Line light rail station. Crescent Communities plans to begin construction this month on Crescent NoDa and open the project in 2017, in line with the opening of the city’s light rail extension. Crescent NoDa will feature 344 apartment residences, 7,500 square feet of street-level retail space, an extended platform for the light rail stop, an open plaza, above-ground parking deck and an adjacent commercial parcel, which could include a mixed-use development with up to eight stories in height and 28,000 square feet of additional street-level retail space. Communities amenities will include an outdoor terrace, dog wash station, resident workshop, clubroom, fitness center and private courtyards with a pool, grilling area, green space and fire pits.
