PLANO, TEXAS — McCarthy Building Cos. has been awarded a new facility that will house the Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine on the Children’s Health Plano campus. McCarthy partnered with design architect Page on the development, which broke ground on Nov. 6. Located on the southwest corner of Preston Road and Quincy Lane, the facility will house the new Children’s Health Andrews Institute, the first institute of its kind in Texas, offering pediatric orthopaedic and sports medicine care, as well as pediatric-focused injury prevention, rehabilitation and therapy. When completed in 2017, the four-story, 185,000-square-foot building will include four operating rooms, an imaging center, physical therapy space and orthopaedic and other pediatric clinics. The institute will also feature indoor and outdoor athletic performance facilities, including a half-size football field and running track. A new five-level parking structure accommodating 1,000 cars will connect to the building.

Federal Capital Partners, Strategic Capital Partners to Develop Spec Office Building in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — Federal Capital Partners (FCP), along with joint venture partner Strategic Capital Partners (SCP), has acquired a development site near the I-40 and I-540 intersection in Raleigh. The joint venture partners have selected Brasfield & Gorrie to construct a new office building known as Forty540 at the development site, which is located in Raleigh’s RTP/I-40 office submarket. The five-story office building will span 198,481 square feet and will feature 41,000-square-foot floorplates for prospective tenants. FCP and SCP have retained Edward Pulliam, Brad Corsmeier and Lee Clyburn of CBRE|Raleigh to lease the office project. Brasfield & Gorrie expects to deliver Forty540 in the first quarter of 2017.
SAN DIEGO — TCA Architects has unveiled its design for Millennium Mission Valley, a mixed-use community located in San Diego’s Mission Valley. Situated on 5.3 acres, the property will feature 291 apartment homes, 14 live-work units and more than 9,000 square feet of retail space. The retail component includes two single-story retail structures and the 14 live-work units, which feature storefronts and retail awnings. The residential component is situated behind the retail space and a public paseo. Developed by The Dinerstein Companies, the project is scheduled for completion in fall 2017.
RENO, NEV. — Sundt Construction Inc. has completed construction of the new Peavine Hall residential community at the University of Nevada, Reno. The $35 million project, led by Sundt as the construction manager at risk, included demolition of multiple existing buildings and the construction of the 117,000-square-foot, five-story steel and concrete residence hall. Collaborative Design Studio designed the hall and LEED Gold certification is pending. The building features a brick veneer, suite-style housing for 400 students, common lounge spaces and state-of-the-art building systems. Located within the campus’ residential hall district, the new building complements the rest of the university’s campus architecture.
NEW YORK CITY — The New York City Economic Development Corp. has selected a joint venture of Urbane Development, BRP Development and Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) to redevelop and manage Flatbush Caton Market, located at 814 Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn. The market was established in 2000 to provide former street vendors a permanent indoor market to sell their wares, and in 2013 NYCEDC released a RFP to redevelop and manage the market into a commercial, residential and community space. The joint venture’s winning 212,000-square-foot redevelopment plan includes more than 20,000 square feet of retail space, 10,000 square feet of community facilities and 166 affordable housing units, as well as an assemblage of business training and support initiatives to strengthen existing vendors and support entrepreneurial growth. Designed by Freeform + Deform, the project will feature convertible indoor/outdoor swing space, modular vendor pods, and multiple production spaces for food, natural personal care and fashion/textile uses. Redevelopment is underway with an expected completion date of late 2019 or early 2020.
LAWRENCEVILLE, PA. — Developer Chris Desmone has broken ground on for Square View, a luxury apartment building project located at 3413-3415 Butler St. in Lawrenceville near Doughboy Square. Designed by Desmone Architects, the four-story project will feature 12 apartments and 4,300 square feet of street-level retail space. Completion is slated for summer 2016.
ANN ARBOR, MICH. , COLUMBIA, MO., AND AMES, IOWA — The Opus Group has completed the development of three luxury, off-campus student housing projects. The projects are ArborBLU near the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; District Flats near the University of Missouri in Columbia; and The Foundry near Iowa State University in Ames. Opus Development Co. was the developer, Opus Design Build was the design builder, and Opus AE Group was the architect and structural engineer of record for all three projects. Minneapolis-based Elness Swenson Graham Architects Inc. was the design architect for The Foundry and District Flats, and J. Bradley Moore & Associates was the design architect for ArborBLU. All three of the luxury apartments feature a variety of amenities including fitness centers, study lounges, clubrooms, garage parking, tanning and other shared community spaces. Residents of the new buildings will also have access to in-unit washers and dryers, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and flat-screen televisions in the fully furnished apartments. ArborBLU was built on top of an existing Pizza House restaurant, which stayed open throughout construction. The 13-story student housing complex features 242 beds. BALTIMORE — Construction is on track for the delivery of Perryman Logistics Center, a 571,000-square-foot speculative warehouse/distribution center, in December. Chesapeake Real Estate Group and financial partner USAA Real Estate Co. are developing the project. The companies acquired a 48.4-acre site at 610 Chelsea Road in the Aberdeen section of Harford County last fall and began construction on the project. The Class A industrial building is being constructed with 36-foot clear ceiling heights, 120 loading docks in a cross dock configuration, two drive-in doors, a 130-foot truck court and an adjacent surface parking area that can accommodate up to 244 trailers or 518 cars.
Dermody Properties, PCCP Break Ground on 475,800 SF Industrial Facility in Eastern Pennsylvania

FORKS TOWNSHIP, PA. — Dermody Properties and PCCP have broken ground on LogistiCenter at 33, an industrial facility at 4200 E. Braden Blvd. in Forks Township. The 475,800-square-foot facility will feature 36 feet of clear height, 226 car parking spaces and 85 trailer parking spaces. The speculation building will be ready for occupancy by summer 2016. R.S Mowery & Sons Inc. is serving as general contractor and Randall Paulson is serving as architect for the project. Dermody Partners is the industrial developer and operating partner, while PCCP is the financial partner on the project.
FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The Nashville office of Doster Construction Co., along with Mainstreet, broke ground Oct. 8 on a $19.3 million seniors housing property in Fort Worth. This is the first project between Doster and Mainstreet, a national real estate developer located in Carmel, Ind. The property will include 94 beds, 69,355 square feet and will provide transitional care (short-stay rehabilitation and therapy) and assisted living. The project is expected to be complete by October 2016. As a transitional care center, the property will offer hospitality-oriented care with amenities such as a therapy gym, outdoor rehabilitation courtyard, movie theater, game room, spa, on-site chef and more.
