BROOKLYN PARK, MINN. — The Opus Group plans to develop a 145,800-square-foot speculative industrial office and warehouse facility in Brooklyn Park. The new property will be located at the intersection of 85th Avenue and Wyoming Avenue North. The building will be conducive for single or multi-tenant occupancy. Construction of the facility will begin in May and completion is scheduled for this fall. Opus Development Co. and Founders Properties will own the property. Opus Development Co. will be the project’s developer. Opus Design Build is the design-builder for the project and Opus AE Group is the architect and engineer of record. Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq will market the property for lease.

HOUSTON — MCR Development LLC has completed a renovation of the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Houston Intercontinental Airport, a 134-suite extended stay hotel located at 4015 Interwood N. Pkwy in Houston. A communal table with power outlets and USB ports was installed in the lobby for guests to charge their mobile devices, and the front desk was revamped to better serve guests’ needs. Additionally, the marketplace was redesigned and the fitness center now features all-new exercise equipment including free weights, elliptical machines, stationary bicycles and treadmills with personal TVs. All guest suites feature separate living and sleeping areas, fully equipped kitchens and 32-inch TVs. Hotel amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a jogging and fitness trail, a grilling pavilion and free high speed internet.

Situated on 55 acres, the community will feature 300 one- and two-bedroom residences, a clubhouse, a fitness center, a game room, a swimming pool and whirlpool, a barbeque area, walking paths, a sports court, a library, a business center, a party room, a theater, a pet grooming center, private garages and an indoor golf center with a driving range and putting green. NEW ORLEANS — Corporate Realty has begun marketing the redeveloped Factor’s Row, a retail development located at the corner of Perdido and Carondelet streets in New Orleans. The ground-floor retail space has 14- to 17-foot ceilings and large storefront windows. The redevelopment project of Factor’s Row, which was built in 1858, will feature 9,484 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 50 upper floor luxury apartments. The redevelopment will also include upgrades to the adjacent Thiberge Building.

The reimagined Planet Hollywood Observatory will overlook Downtown Disney with a newly expanded outdoor terrace and bar. Elkus Manfredi Architects will spearhead the design and will align the new Planet Hollywood Observatory with the transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs. Disney Springs will treat guests by day and night to dining, shopping and entertainment with open-air promenades, springs and waterfront charm.

AUSTIN — Morgan, a multifamily development, construction and property management company, has begun construction on an apartment project located at 4601 Rialto Blvd. in southwest Austin. US Bank is providing the construction financing. Pearl Lantana will include 444 units, with a mix of one-, two- and three- bedroom apartments ranging from 660 to 1,676 square feet. Completion of the project is slated for the fourth quarter of 2016. Amenities at the property will include views of downtown Austin, side-by-side refrigerator/freezers, full size washers and dryers, under-mount sinks, kitchen islands in some units, walk-in closets, USB outlets and patios or balconies. Pearl Lantana residents will also have access to pools and grilling stations, an e-lounge, clubroom and gym.

PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has unveiled the design for The Pennovation Center, a 58,000-square-foot innovation center located in Philadelphia. Situated on the university’s 23-acre Pennovation Works site, the project includes the transformation of an existing industrial building into a collaborative working environment for entrepreneurs, researchers and industry partners. The project team includes HWKN as design architect, KSS Architects as architect of record, Land Collection as landscape architect, Bruce Mau Design as design consultants, and Ballinger as structural and MEP engineers, as well as Focus and Atelier Ten. The Pennovation Center is slated to open summer 2016 with the Penn Engineering lab opening this fall.

PLANO, TEXAS — Bob Moore Construction has completed structural work for the Legacy VI and VII office buildings. Upon completion, Legacy VI and VII will deliver 245,508 square feet of speculative office space in a 24-acre, three-building campus. Lincoln Property Co. hired Bob Moore Construction as the general contractor for Legacy VI and VII in 2014. Legacy VI will include two buildings, each spanning 60,428 square feet. Legacy VII is a 124,652-square-foot, two-story office building. All three buildings were constructed with tilt-up construction. The campus also features 1,463 parking spaces spread over 582,522 square feet of new paving.

ROYAL OAK, MICH. — Construction has begun on a new Proton Therapy Center at Beaumont Hospital’s Cancer Institute in Royal Oak. Proton therapy is a newer, high-tech alternative to treating certain cancers. The $40 million project will be the first single-room proton treatment center of its kind in Michigan. Upon completion, the two-story Proton Therapy building will span 25,200-square-feet, including a basement. The first floor will house the Proton Therapy Center. The 10,000-square-foot space will include a cyclotron that produces the proton beams and a single-room treatment area. The first patients will undergo treatment at the Proton Therapy Center in the spring of 2017. The 8,000-square-foot second floor will house Beaumont Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology and Hematology program. Along with hundreds of construction jobs, the new Proton Therapy Center will create at least 30 clinical positions at Beaumont. Beaumont will develop the project in cooperation with Proton International, an Atlanta-based proton therapy development group with expertise in all phases of proton therapy development and operations.
