READINGTON, N.J. — New Jersey-based developer Larken Associates has completed The Ridge at Readington, a 254-unit multifamily project located about 50 miles southwest of Manhattan. The Ridge at Readington features a mix of market-rate and affordable units in one- and two-bedroom formats across nine buildings. Residences are furnished with stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops. Amenities include a pool, fitness center, lounge and wet bar, outdoor pavilion, dog park and walking trails. Rents start at $1,950 per month for a one-bedroom apartment.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — Los Angeles-based developer Banyan Residential has broken ground on Banyan Everton, a 234-unit build-to-rent project in the northern Austin suburb of Pflugerville. The site spans 34.4 acres. Homes will come in three- and four-bedroom floor plans, have an average size of 1,771 and include private garages and fenced backyards. Banyan Everton will also offer a communal pool, fitness center and open green space. Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

BERLIN, VT. — Heidenberg Properties has completed the redevelopment of Berlin Mall, located just south of the Vermont state capital, into a mixed-use development and signed two new tenants to leases totaling roughly 60,000 square feet. The redevelopment began last year with the opening of Chestnut Place, a 98-unit seniors housing complex. Five Below opened a store at the property in February, and Hobby Lobby backfilled the former J.C. Penney anchor space in April. Heidenberg has also obtained approval for the addition of 30 residential units as well as a standalone, drive-thru Starbucks, and rebranded the property as Central Vermont Marketplace.

BASTROP, TEXAS — Atlanta-based multifamily developer Wood Partners has acquired 26 acres in Bastrop, about 30 miles east of Austin, for the construction of a 650-unit project. The site is located within a larger mixed-use development by Houston-based Pearl River Cos. John Baird, Michael Kennedy and Sullivan Johnston of Avison Young represented Pearl River Cos. in the disposition of the land. Wood Partners plans to break ground in the coming weeks and expects for construction to last 24 to 36 months. Information on floor plans and amenities was not disclosed.

PATTONVILLE, TEXAS — General contractor Harrison, Walker & Harper has broken ground on a $17 million project for the Prairiland Independent School District in the northeastern Texas community of Pattonville. The project includes the construction of a 46,000-square-foot multi-purpose facility for the high school campus that will house athletics facilities and event space, as well as a 21,000-square-foot career and technical education center. Those pieces of the project are valued at roughly $11.5 million and $5.5 million, respectively. Architecture and engineering firm Parkhill is also a partner on the project. A tentative completion date was not released.

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — Arizona-based owner-operator Watermark Retirement Communities has opened The Hacienda at Georgetown, a 231-unit luxury property in Georgetown, approximately 25 miles north of Austin. The apartments feature one- and two-bedroom options and offer independent living, assisted living, short-term stays or memory care. Amenities include a fitness center, salon/spa, courtyard and other various onsite dining and wellness programs.

BOERNE, TEXAS — Locally based developer Embrey will build a 214-unit build-to-rent residential community in Boerne, a northwestern suburb of San Antonio. The site spans 27.5 acres at 1670 State Highway 46. Homes will have an average size of 1,100 square feet, and amenities will include a pool, fitness center, clubhouse and outdoor grilling and dining areas, as well as multiple dog parks, sitting areas and walking trails. Russell Noll of Transwestern represented the undisclosed seller in the land deal. Construction is set to begin in June, and the first units are expected to be delivered in summer 2024.

MANSFIELD, TEXAS — Locally based development and investment firm Wildcat Management will build Castle Ranch, a $150 million mixed-use project that will be located in the southern Fort Worth suburb of Mansfield. Castle Ranch will include apartments, townhomes, retail and restaurant space and coworking office space, as well a multitude of pocket parks, walkable streets, sidewalks and pedestrian paths. The development will also connect to a new city park and trail system, both of which under construction. The groundbreaking of Castle Ranch is slated for 2024.

IRVING, TEXAS — Locally based developer KDC has broken ground on an 850,000-square-foot office campus in Irving’s Las Colinas district that will serve as the new regional headquarters for Wells Fargo. The campus will consist of two 10-story, 400,000-square-foot buildings and a connecting parking garage, as well as various open green spaces, all on a 22-acre site. The San Francisco-based bank is consolidating its regional real estate footprint and expects to employ about 3,000 people at the campus, inclusive of the hiring of 650 new staffers. Completion is slated for late 2025.

HOUSTON — Target (NYSE: T) will open a 1.4 million-square-foot distribution center at Generation Park, a 4,000-acre mixed-use development in northeast Houston. California-based Panattoni Development purchased 145 acres for the Minneapolis-based retailer’s facility from the owner of Generation Park, McCord Development, in 2022. Construction is underway and scheduled for completion next year.
