LEHIGHTON, PA. — Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) will open a 100,000-square-foot hospital in Lehighton in central Pennsylvania. The facility will be situated on a 34.5-acre site and will feature 18 inpatient beds, a 12-bay emergency department, two operating rooms, two procedure rooms and four observation rooms with plans for future expansion. The opening is scheduled for spring 2022. ALEXANDRIA, VA. — JBG Smith will break ground on Potomac Yard in Alexandria this month. Phase I of the project will span 1.7 million square feet and include four office towers and two residential buildings with ground-level retail space. Potomac Yard will be situated less than two miles from Amazon’s HQ2 future site. Bethesda, Md.-based JBG Smith is building the property on behalf of Virginia Tech and JPMorgan, which received approval in December from the City of Alexandria to move forward with development. A timeline for construction of Phase I was not disclosed. Virginia Tech’s $1 billion Innovation Campus will anchor the development. Virginia Tech’s portion of the project will include an 11-story, 300,000-square-foot academic building that is expected to deliver in 2024. The university expects to break ground in summer 2022 on the project that SmithGroup designed. Potomac Yard will be situated adjacent to the Potomac Yard Metro Station, which is expected to open in 2022. The project also includes more than 57,000 square feet of planned public and private open space.

HOUSTON — Seniors housing operator Civitas Senior Living and developer StoneCreek Real Estate Partners will redevelop the Copperfield Racquet & Health Club, a 98,000-square-foot seniors housing community in Houston. The new property, which will be branded StoneCreek of Copperfield, is situated on 6.6 acres and will feature 12 independent living villas, 74 assisted living units and 18 memory care units. Project partners include Pi Architects and interior design firm Senior By Design. Ground-up construction is planned to begin this month and to be complete by summer 2022.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Panattoni Development has completed North 15 Logistics, a 550,601-square-foot industrial project on 30 acres at the intersection of Interstate 15 and Speedway Boulevard in North Las Vegas. North 15 Logistics features two buildings with up to 36-foot clear heights, ESFR sprinkler systems, R-30 roof batt insulation and concrete truck courts. The tenant improvements are now complete, and Ruby Has occupies 373,363 square feet at the project. With six warehouse locations across the United States and Canada, Ruby Has offers third-party logistics using technology and integration to allow for faster shipping and a reduction in freight costs. A comingled fund managed by Clarion Partners owns the project, with Panattoni Development serving as developer. Alston Construction served as contractor and HPA Architecture served as architect.

NEW ORLEANS — Holiday Inn Club Vacations Inc. has opened its New Orleans resort, which marks the first urban property for the company. The hotel is housed in what was the city’s first skyscraper, built in 1893. Holiday Inn Club Vacations acquired the property in 2019 and converted the apartment building into a 105-villa resort. The property offers one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens and living rooms. The first floor of the 11-story building offers a marketplace and the Maritime Bar & Lounge. The top floor features a fitness center, rooftop deck and a pool. The asset is situated at 203 Carondelet St. in New Orleans’ French Quarter district. The resort houses 45 employees.

JONESBORO, GA. — Brennan Investment Group has acquired 25 acres in Jonesboro to develop Jonesboro Logistics Center, a three-building, 300,000-square-foot industrial campus in Jonesboro. Buildings One and Two will span 50,500 square feet, while Building Three will total 200,000 square feet. Each building is designed to accommodate two tenants. Buildings One and Two will be able to expand to house four tenants. Construction is scheduled to begin this quarter with completion targeted for the end of this year. GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — Multifamily developer Wood Partners has broken ground on Alta Austin Avenue, a 312-unit apartment community located in the northern Austin suburb of Georgetown. Units will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans, as well as stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, tile backsplashes and full-size washers and dryers. Amenities will include a pool, fitness center, clubroom, business center, outdoor kitchen and a dog park. The opening is scheduled for this winter.

DETROIT — Amazon has unveiled plans to open six new fulfillment and sortation centers in metro Detroit this year in order to support operations closer to customers. The sites are expected to create more than 2,000 full- and part-time jobs. In addition to a robotics fulfillment center in Detroit, Amazon will build centers in Hazel Park, Pinnacle Park (2), Plymouth and Pontiac. The new Detroit property will span 823,000 square feet and is expected to create 1,200 new full-time jobs upon its opening. Amazon currently operates 10 facilities in Detroit that support customer fulfillment and delivery operations, including four properties that opened in 2020. Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 13,500 jobs in Michigan and invested more than $2.5 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation to its employees.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The NRP Group has broken ground on Renaissance at Lincoln Park, a 179-unit workforce housing project in New Rochelle, located north of New York City. The project will also include the construction of a 23,400-square-foot Boys & Girls Club facility that will feature a gym, basketball court, recording studio, demonstration kitchen, administrative offices and other rooms for work and play. The NRP Group is developing the project in partnership with Guion Renaissance Housing Development Finance Corp. (HDFC), Kensworth Consulting, The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle and The City of New Rochelle. The total development cost of the project is $97 million. The New York State Homes & Community Renewal provided $48 million of tax-exempt bonds issued by its Housing Finance Agency to help fund development costs.

BOWLING GREEN, KY. — Ball Corp. plans to open a new 500,000-square-foot building in Bowling Green that will serve as a manufacturing facility for aluminum can tops. According to the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, Ball will invest $305 million to develop the facility. The Westminster, Colo.-based company expects to create 200 jobs at the property, which is scheduled to open in early 2022. The project’s construction is also expected to support 391 jobs. The facility will be situated within Transpark, a 300-acre industrial development owned by the City of Bowling Green and Warren County. Ball will be the first tenant at the site. Transpark has CSX Railroad service through the southern end of the property and is located five miles from Interstate 65. A design team for the project was not disclosed. Ball supplies aluminum packaging solutions for beverage, personal care and household products customers, as well as aerospace and other technologies and services primarily for the U.S. government.
