PERTH AMBOY, N.J. — The Home Depot (NYSE: HD) will open a 330,000-square-foot distribution center in the Northern New Jersey city of Perth Amboy. The Atlanta-based retailer will use the center to offer same-day and next-day flatbed delivery of bulk and oversized orders to customers and stores in the Tri-State area. In addition, Home Depot will open a fulfillment center in Perth Amboy in 2021. Combined, the openings of these two facilities should bring about 400 new jobs to the market. Prospective sites for the new centers, as well as specific timelines for coming on line, were not disclosed.

ELGIN, TEXAS — Houston-based self-storage developer The Jenkins Organization has broken ground on a 208-site RV resort in Elgin, about 25 miles northwest of Austin. Jenkins will operate the new park under the Great Escapes brand. Amenities will include a clubhouse with a kitchen, a resort-style pool, fitness center, outdoor grilling areas and a dog park. The opening of the facility, which will be Jenkins’ fourth Great Escapes location, is scheduled for winter 2021.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Magnus Development Partners will break ground on 803 Industrial Park, a planned spec development that will feature nearly 1 million square feet of industrial space adjacent to Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Magnus plans to break ground on Building One, a 201,120-square-foot asset, in early 2021. Building One will feature a 130-foot-deep truck court, up to 57 dock-high doors, 72 trailer drop spaces, 50-foot-by-54-foot bays, 32-foot clear heights, ESFR fire protection and LED lighting. The building will be subdividable for users needing as little as 34,020 square feet of space. The industrial park, being developed by Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s development arm, is also situated near the UPS regional air and ground hubs, a FedEx Freight and Norfolk Southern transload rail terminal, and one mile from Interstate 26. Chuck Salley, Dave Mathews, Thomas Beard and John Peebles of Colliers International | South Carolina will handle leasing efforts on behalf of the owner. A timeline for completion was not disclosed.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Capitol Seniors Housing has opened The Chelsea at Greenburgh, a 101-unit assisted living and memory care community in Westchester County. Designed by architecture firm Meyer and built by New Jersey-based March Construction, the 90,651-square-foot property features an open-concept kitchen area, a clubroom, library, art studio, salon, sports lounge, theater, fitness center and two separate dining rooms. Chelsea Senior Living is the operator of the property.

LOS ANGELES — Cityview, a multifamily investment management and development firm, has started construction of 5935 Pico, a mixed-use community adjacent to the Carthay Square neighborhood in Mid-City Los Angeles. Slated for completion in fourth-quarter 2022, the seven-story property will feature 123 multifamily units including 13 affordable apartments, 3,340 square feet of retail space and two levels of subterranean parking. The community will offer 27 studio, 75 one-bedroom and 21 two-bedroom floor plans, all featuring stainless steel appliances, Nest thermostats, vinyl flooring, quartz countertops and in-unit washers/dryers. Community amenities will include a rooftop pool and spa, barbecue areas, dog lawn, tables with firepits, screening projector, outdoor fitness lawn, fitness center, leasing office, club room, lobby and mail room. Cityview purchased the site, which previously housed a shopping center, from AMREAL 5935 Pico Investors LLC in January 2019. The development team includes WPIC Construction, Togawa Smith Martin, Nadia Geller Designs and Labib Funk + Associates.

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — Alter, a commercial real estate developer, has announced plans for a $54 million sports medicine center for Banner Health at its Riverwalk at Talking Stick mixed-use development along Loop 101 at Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale. Preliminary design is underway for the three-story, 80,000-square-foot project, which will offer athletes dedicated sports medicine services. Completion is slated for fourth-quarter 2022. Pat Williams of JLL represented Banner Health, while Kurt Rosene of NOVO Development represented Alter in the project negotiations.

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS — Locally based grocer H-E-B will open a new, 122,222-square-foot store at 651 S. Walnut Ave. in the San Antonio suburb of New Braunfels. An existing 99,000-square-foot H-E-B store opened in that market in 1994. The project, construction of which is slated to begin early next year, has a price tag of $17.5 million. The opening is slated for the fourth quarter of 2021.

NORWALK, CONN. — Hospitality owner SoNo Development has opened the 102-room Residence Inn by Marriott Hotel in Norwalk. The eight-story hotel houses studio and one-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and workspaces. Amenities include a grocery delivery service, convenience store, fitness center, business center and an onsite bar and restaurant. Pennsylvania-based Shaner Hotels will operate the property.

KENOSHA, WIS. — The City of Kenosha has unveiled plans for a $400 million project known as Downtown Vision. It will include two 11-story towers to be known as the Brindisi Towers, which will feature luxury apartments and condos as well as restaurant and retail space on the ground floor. A new entertainment and performing arts center will also be built with a 1,200-seat main theater and a smaller 300-seat community theater. A gallery will be operated by the Kenosha Public Museum. The performing arts center will connect to a higher-end hotel. As part of the project, Kenosha City Hall will be relocated. The current location will be transformed into a park. A parking ramp will increase downtown parking by 356 stalls. The Downtown Vision plan will be presented for review and recommendation to the Public Works Committee, Public Safety & Welfare Committee and Finance Committee in early December. Then it will go to the Common Council for approval with the goal of receiving final project approval by the end of the year. GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS — Major League Cricket (MLC) has received approval from the City of Grand Prairie on a long-term lease agreement to redevelop the 5,445-seat AirHogs Stadium in Grand Prairie into the organization’s first major cricket venue in the United States. The stadium is currently the home field of the Texas Airhogs Minor League Baseball team. The project will increase the seating capacity to accommodate more than 8,000 spectators with additional and upgraded hospitality features and amenities. International architecture firm HKS has been tapped to design the project. Upon completion in 2022, the venue will house the Dallas franchise of MLC, as well as the headquarters of USA Cricket, the sport’s national governing body. MLC plans to launch its inaugural season in 2022, with the stadium expected to be ready for cricket by the spring of that year.
