DUARTE, CALIF. — MBK Rental Living has purchased a 3.4-acre site in Duarte for the development of 292-unit apartment community in Duarte, situated 11 miles from downtown Pasadena and 22 miles from downtown Los Angeles. MBK is developing the project in partnership with Haseko Corp. Located along the Interstate 210 corridor and steps away from City of Hope Metro Gold Line, the five-story, transit-oriented development will feature a mix of flats and lofted studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, as well as co-living apartments. Amenities will include a fitness center and resort-style pool and spa, clubroom and “Bru Hause” gathering spot. Construction of the property, which will also include an eight-story parking structure, is scheduled to start in 2022. The new development is situated adjacent to Esperanza at Duarte Station, the partnership’s first project that will deliver 344 apartments upon completion in mid-2023.

GLENDALE, CALIF. — R.D. Olson Development and R.D. Olson Construction have completed Glendale Marriott Residence Inn, a five-story, mission-style hotel located at 199 N. Louise St. in Glendale. The 190,000-square-foot hotel offers 120 studios with king beds, 12 corner suites, six two-bedroom suites and seven Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant rooms, all with full kitchens. Hotel amenities include a fitness center; courtyard deck with pool and spa; large meeting room; complimentary Wi-Fi; 24-hour market; indoor and outdoor seating areas; and two levels of underground parking. Additionally, the hotel is located near Griffith Park, Hollywood, Dodger Stadium and other Los Angeles-area attractions. Project partners include WATG and SANDdesign.

WEST ORANGE, N.J. — Prism Capital Partners has begun leasing the final phase of The Residences at Edison Lofts, a 300-unit apartment complex in West Orange, about 20 miles west of New York City. The property is part of the 21-acre Edison Village, which is a redevelopment of Thomas Edison’s historic Invention Factory and Commerce Center. Residential amenities include a 5,000-square-foot fitness center, heated indoor pool, 12,000-square-foot rooftop lounge, a café and concierge services.

EXETER, N.H. — New Hampshire-based Monahan Cos. will develop a 116,288-square-foot warehouse within Garrison Glen Corporate Park in Exeter, located east of Manchester. The property will feature 40-foot clear heights and proximity to Interstate 95 and State Route 101. Approvals are in place, and construction is expected to last about nine months. Monahan also recently completed a 110,000-square-foot build-to-suit project for Gourmet Gift Baskets on an adjacent lot. Cushman & Wakefield is marketing the development.

WESTFIELD, IND. — The Woodmont Co., a national developer specializing in retail, has begun development of a new 10,759-square-foot Kiddie Academy in Westfield near Carmel. Located at 1367 Waterleaf Drive, the school will offer full-time care as well as after-school programs and summer camps for children between six weeks and 12 years old. Three Colors Flag LLC will own and operate the property, which is slated for completion in spring 2021.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. — A public-private partnership between CTG Development Co. (CTG) and Florida A&M University (FAMU) has completed the development of a 720-bed residence hall on the university’s campus in Tallahassee. The new residence hall is Phase I of development on a larger project called Main Street Corridor, which will include a mixed-use building with multifamily units and retail, a new stadium and a field house upon completion. Finfrock is serving as the architect of record and the design-build contractor for the project. The university held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 30. FAMU is holding classes in a hybrid format for the fall 2020 semester.

DULUTH, GA. — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened a 99-room Staybridge Suites hotel in Duluth, a northeast suburb of Atlanta in Gwinnett County. The property features a 24-hour business center, saltwater pool, fitness center, a meeting room and laundry facilities. Each room includes a 49-inch smart TV. Atlanta-based IHG has implemented its Clean Promise program, which includes disinfecting rooms and common areas with an electrostatic sprayer, as well as operating the hotel with strict social distancing guidelines. Duluth Capital Investments LLC operates and owns the hotel, which opened Sept. 30.

MUNDELEIN, ILL. — Venture One Real Estate has begun development of Route 60 Logistics Center, a 195,375-square-foot speculative industrial facility in Mundelein, a northern suburb of Chicago. Located at 1300 Allanson Road, the infill project will feature a clear height of 36 feet, onsite trailer parking and ample car parking. Chris Volkert, Ned Frank and Pat Hake of Colliers International have been retained to market the property for lease. Meridian Design Build is the general contractor. Completion is slated for the second quarter of 2021.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FLA. — Whole Foods Market will open a 40,000-square-foot store in Jacksonville Beach on Oct. 7. The new grocery store will anchor Pablo Plaza, a 156,755-square-foot shopping center located at 1822 S. Third St., 22 miles east of downtown Jacksonville. Pablo Plaza’s other tenants include Marshalls, HomeGoods, PetSmart and Office Depot. Jax Daily Record reports that J. Raymond Construction Corp. is the general contractor, CPH Engineering is the civil engineer and ELM | Ervin Lovett Miller is the architect. Jacksonville-based Regency Centers leases the property on behalf of the landlord and affiliate, New York-based Equity One Corp.
