KYLE, TEXAS — Kansas City-based NorthPoint Development will build Plum Creek Industrial Center, an 859,000-square-foot project that will be located on a 74-acre site in Kyle, a southern suburb of Austin. The Class A development will consist of four buildings that will be developed in two phases. Phase I will consist of two buildings totaling 440,000 square feet. Colliers International will handle leasing of the project, which will be NorthPoint’s first in the Austin area.

LINCOLN, MASS. — Civico Development has completed Oriole Landing, a 60-unit residential community in the western Boston suburb of Lincoln. Fifteen of the units are reserved for renters earning 80 percent or less of the area median income. The project involved the restoration of a historic farmhouse that serves as an amenity building for the complex. Bald Hill Builders served as the general contractor for the project. Madison Management is handling leasing.

TROY, MO. — Fast-casual restaurant Slim Chickens has opened at 31 The Plaza in Troy, about 55 miles northwest of St. Louis. R-Chicken, a division of R-Solution, is the franchise operator for the Troy location. Since its founding in 2003, Slim Chickens has expanded to more than 100 locations in 17 states. The goal is to open 600 restaurants by 2025, according to a news release. Slim Chickens serves fried chicken and Southern-inspired side dishes.

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. — LDK Ventures and USA Properties Fund have closed on the financing and acquisition of a development site for The A.J., a multifamily property located in the Railyards mixed-use development in Sacramento. Situated on 2.9 acres at the southwest corner of Sixth Street and Railyards Boulevard, The A.J. will feature 345 apartments in a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom layouts, with 69 of the units designated as affordable. The community will also include 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, a fitness center, pool and spa, dog wash, and rooftop sky lounge with outdoor grills and fire tables. The A.J. is the first project at the Railyards, a 244-acre urban infill development in downtown Sacramento. Completion of the multifamily property is slated for winter 2022. The A.J. is named in honor of A.J. Stevens, who was deemed father of innovation at the Sacramento Railyards in the late 1800s. LDK Ventures is the managing member of Downtown Railyard Venture. The City of Sacramento, the California Department of Housing and Community Development, and Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency provided assistance to structure the financing for the $130 million residential project. Citi Bank Community Capital provided financing for the development.

PORTSMOUTH, VA. — Woda Cooper Cos. will develop Holley Pointe, a 50-unit affordable housing complex in Portsmouth. The Columbus, Ohio-based developer expects the project to cost $10.9 million and to be complete in summer 2021. The Virginia Housing Authority provided Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to support the development, which will offer two- and three-bedroom floor plans. The community will be open to families, singles and seniors earning 80 percent or less of the area median income (AMI). Rents are projected to range from $710 and $1,135 per month. In addition, there will be 6,500 square feet of commercial space on the ground level. Hooker DeJong Architecture designed the building, Hoggard-Eure Associates is the civil engineer and Woda Construction Inc. is the general contractor. Woda Cooper’s management division will oversee day-to-day operations.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLA. — The St. Joe Co. and BRW MidGrove LLC will build The Lodge 30A, a boutique hotel in Panama City Beach. The property will be situated on Scenic County Highway 30A adjacent to the planned mixed-use development Greenway Station. Amenities at the three-story hotel will include a fitness center and a pool. St. Joe Resort Operations LLC will manage the property. Site development on The Lodge 30A is expected to begin immediately, and the parties anticipate the hotel will open in early 2022.

SALINA, KAN. — Great Plains Manufacturing Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kubota North America Corp., has unveiled plans for a $53 million expansion project and 750,000-square-foot building purchase. The effort is to further invest in the company’s Salina operations in support of growing demand for Kubota construction equipment. The existing building will become available for occupancy after July 2021. The company plans to launch operations by the end of 2021 in a phased-in approach. Great Plains expects to add approximately 130 new manufacturing jobs to its existing 1,450-person Kansan employee base.

PARKER, COLO. — Plymouth, Minn.-based Dominium has received $81 million in construction and permanent financing for the development of South Range Crossing Apartments, an affordable housing complex in Parker. KeyBank Real Estate Capital (KBREC) secured the financing, which includes a $50 million construction loan and a $31 million Freddie Mac Tax-Exempt Loan (TEL) forward commitment. Financing partners include CREA, which provided a 4 percent low-income housing tax credit equity investment, and the Colorado Housing Finance Agency, which issued bonds and allocated the credits. Al Beaumariage of KBREC’s Commercial Mortgage Group and Kelly Frank of KeyBank’s Community Development Lending and Investment team structured the financing. Situated on 11 acres, South Range Crossing will feature 204 units in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts spread across eight three-story residential buildings. The property will also feature a clubhouse with a business center, pool, spa, playground and fitness center. All units will be affordable to residents earning up to 60 percent of the area median income. Completion is slated for 2021.

FORNEY, TEXAS — Amazon will open a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in the eastern Dallas suburb of Forney, a deal that is expected to bring about 500 new full-time jobs to the region. The fulfillment center is expected to open in 2021. Amazon is also opening a 200,000-square-foot delivery station in Forney later this year. The fulfillment center is located at 1475 Akron Way, and the delivery station is located at 1101 South Gateway Blvd.
