ATLANTA — The Home Depot will develop three distribution centers around its home city of Atlanta. The biggest of the three facilities will be a 657,600-square-foot center in Locust Grove that will supply stores in the Southeast. The Atlanta-based company expects the property to house 600 employees when operations begin in the next few months. The home improvement retailer also plans to open a “flatbed delivery service” in Stonecrest in 2021. The facility will offer same- and next-day delivery of bulk and oversized orders to both construction sites and private residences. Earlier this year, the company opened its first flatbed delivery center in Dallas, Texas. The third asset will be an order fulfillment center in East Point that is slated to open in late 2021. The facility will offer same- and next-day delivery of products primarily ordered by institutional business customers for their maintenance, repair and operations needs.

PEKIN, ILL. — An 88-room Hampton Inn & Suites hotel has opened at East Court Village in Pekin, about 10 miles south of Peoria. The four-story property is located at 3445 Court St. Amenities include a free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, on-site parking, a heated indoor pool, fitness center and meeting spaces. The pool will open to guests soon. Face masks are currently required in all indoor public areas of the hotel for guests and employees. In 2016, Marigold Lodging purchased the 2.8-acre parcel for the hotel from Cullinan Properties Ltd., which owns and manages East Court Village, a regional power center.

GURNEE, ILL. — An unnamed developer has purchased a 2.6-acre parcel at 5742 Northridge Drive in Gurnee near Waukegan for $1 million. The buyer plans to build a hotel at the site, which includes a 24,000-square-foot, single-story building. The site is near Gurnee Mills, Six Flags and Great Wolf Lodge. Paul Cawthorn and Angelo Labriola of SVN | Chicago Commercial represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction.

BUCKEYE, ARIZ. — Scannell Properties has purchased a 70-acre development site, located near the corner of Miller and Durrango roads in Buckeye, for nearly $6.6 million. The buyer plans to develop an 850,000-square-foot, build-to-suit distribution facility at the property for specialty discount retailer Five Below. The tenant plans to initially bring approximately 150 new jobs to the area and expects to grow to nearly 300 employees over the next five years. Greg Vogel and Wes Campbell of Land Advisors Organization’s Metro Phoenix office represented the undisclosed seller in the deal.

TOMBALL, TEXAS — JDR Cable Systems, a provider of underwater power cables for the energy business, has begun construction on a 65,000-square-foot office and industrial project in Tomball that will serve as the United Kingdom-based company’s new Houston area headquarters The facility will house a wide range of operations, including engineering and management for global projects, assembly of a variety of oilfield equipment and support for its offshore service business. Completion is slated for the first half of 2021.

ATLANTA — Strand Capital Group LLC will develop a 22-story, dual-branded hotel in downtown Atlanta. The Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham and Club Wyndham hotel will overlook Centennial Olympic Park and will be situated within walking distance of the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. The hotel will offer 200 rooms and is expected to be delivered in early 2022. The property will offer one-bedroom standard and one-, two- and three-bedroom deluxe and presidential configurations. The rooms will feature living and dining areas, kitchenettes or fully equipped kitchens, and a Frozen Concoction Maker frozen drink machine in the Margaritaville suites. An undisclosed number of suites will be reserved for timeshares. Upon completion, Wyndham Destinations will acquire units at the property and manage the sales and marketing of the timeshares.

DENVER — PepsiCo Beverages North America has signed a 283,500-square-foot lease at Pecos Logistics Park, an infill logistics business park currently under construction in Denver. Denver-based Westfield Co. is developing the project, which will feature a total of 1.2 million square feet of Class A industrial space situated on 66 acres at the northwest corner of 56th Avenue and Pecos Street at full build-out. Totaling 391,600 square feet, the first phase includes three front-park, rear-load speculative buildings ranging from 121,800 square feet to 139,200 square feet and the PepsiCo 283,500-square-foot build-to-suit property. The buildings will offer dock-high and drive-in loading, 28-foot to 32-foot clear heights, ESFRK-17 sprinklers, LED lighting and trailer parking. Phase I is scheduled for delivery in third-quarter 2021, with an 1,880-square-foot speculative suite in Building 1 and a 1,550-square-foot speculative suite in Building 2. Additionally, the first phase will feature a shared amenity space called “The Junction” that will include conference and training rooms, a kitchen, flexible use/fitness space and showers, bike storage and outdoor patio space. PEMBROKE, N.C. — A joint venture titled PB Pembroke Owner LLC has broken ground on a 192-bed student housing community located near the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The 192-bed project is Phase I of a larger development set to include 20,000 square feet of retail and a second 300-bed student housing community. Financing for the project includes $3 million in opportunity zone equity from the Woodforest CEI-Boulos Opportunity Fund, a $10.8 million loan from Self-Help Credit Union and $840,000 in developer equity. Phase I of the development is scheduled for completion in fall 2021.

SAN PEDRO, CALIF. — Los Angeles-based Mountain Pacific Opportunity Partners, in partnership with South Bay Developers and ARK Construction & Development, has started construction 336 W. Seventh Street, a mixed-use development in San Pedro. Situated on a 14,000-square-foot opportunity zone site, the $14 million project will feature a five-story building offering 32 apartments in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, as well as two two-story penthouses. Three of units will be designated as affordable housing. Additionally, the property will feature 3,750 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and parking for 44 vehicles. Breen Engineering is providing architectural services for the project. Completion is slated for summer 2022.

MECHANICSBURG, PA. — Pet food provider Nestlé Purina will invest $167 million in the expansion of its manufacturing and distribution facility in Mechanicsburg, located southwest of Harrisburg. The project will add new processing and packaging lines to the operation. Purina, which currently employs about 320 people at this facility, expects to hire about 95 more workers following the completion of the expansion. A construction schedule was not released.
