CHANNAHON, ILL. — Amazon has unveiled plans to open a fulfillment center in Channahon, southwest of Joliet. The facility will create more than 500 new full-time jobs. Employees at the more than 1 million-square-foot center will pick, pack and ship large items, such as sports equipment, patio furniture, fishing rods, pet food, kayaks, bicycles and household goods. Amazon currently employs more than 11,000 full-time associates throughout the state of Illinois.

FRISCO, TEXAS — General contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has been selected to build a new 500-room Omni Hotel & Resort at the future site of the PGA of America’s headquarters in Frisco. The property will include a retail village, golf villas, a clubhouse and a variety of outdoor amenities. The PGA is relocating from South Florida to a 600-acre development that is slated for completion in 2022.

BOISE — The Opus Group has started construction of a mixed-use project in downtown Boise. River Caddis Development and Standard Capital, a division of Standard Cos., are developing the project. Slated for completion in summer 2021, the eight-story, 285,000-square-foot project will feature 173 apartments in a mix of micro, one- and two-bedroom floor plans, as well as 3,000 square feet of street-level retail space. The second, third and fourth floors will primarily serve as parking with 400 parking stalls and bike storage that will be privately managed by Ada County, Idaho. The remaining floors will consist of apartments, a fitness center and a landscaped rooftop courtyard. The development is located at the corner of South Third and West Myrtle streets. Opus is serving as design-builder, interior designer, architect and structural engineer of record. River Caddis and Standard Capital are co-developers and co-owners and GGLO is the design architect of the project.

NEW YORK CITY AND LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — Marshall Hotels & Resorts has opened three new hotels in metro New York. In Manhattan, the company opened a 68-room Wingate by Wyndham and a 79-room La Quinta by Wyndham. The Wingate hotel is near Madison Square Garden, Times Square and Central Park. The La Quinta property is near Times Square, the Empire State Building and the Theater District, as well as the LaGuardia, JFK International and Newark Liberty International Airports. In Long Island City, the company opened 140-room Wingate by Wyndham near Icahn Stadium and Arthur Ashe Stadium.

MINNEAPOLIS — Stahl has been selected to renovate The Carlyle, the tallest residential building in Minnesota. Stahl will renovate the first- and fifth-floor common areas, including the lobby; build a new clubroom and yoga room on the fifth floor; and install new finishes on all residence floors. The 39-story building was originally built in 2007. It includes 249 units. Renovation work is slated for completion in May 2020. Stahl has partnered with ESG Architects for the project.

ELGIN, ILL. — Meridian Design Build has broken ground on two speculative industrial buildings on behalf of developer Scannell Properties in Elgin. The buildings are located at 2451 Bath Road and 1755 Britannia Drive. The Bath road facility will span 325,020 square feet and feature a clear height of 36 feet, four drive-in doors, 367 auto parking spaces and 56 trailer parking stalls. The Britannia Drive facility will span 80,400 square feet and feature a clear height of 32 feet, two drive-in doors and 93 auto parking spaces. Paul Woody Architects and Manhard Consulting make up the project team. Kenneth Franzese and John Cassidy of Lee & Associates will market the properties for lease.

ROMEOVILLE, ILL. — Crate & Barrel has selected The Pizzuti Cos. to develop a build-to-suit, Class A industrial facility in Romeoville. The property is being developed at Pinnacle Business Center in the heart of Chicago’s I-55 corridor. An affiliate of Heitman LLC owns the property. Crate & Barrel will occupy a facility known as Pinnacle XXIV, a 646,380-square-foot building. The development will serve as an e-commerce facility for the national home décor company. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately with completion slated for the third quarter of 2020. Jules Nissim and Jason West of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant while Jeff Kapcheck of CBRE represented ownership.

PHILADELPHIA — U-Haul will open a 251,643-square-foot retail and self-storage facility in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. The facility will offer truck and trailer rental, moving supplies and climate-controlled self-storage space. On Oct. 18, Philadelphia-based general contractor Domus Construction will begin construction of the facility, which is slated for completion in December 2020. JKRP Architects designed the project.

NAMPA, IDAHO — Amazon has announced plans to open its first fulfillment center in Idaho, creating more than 1,000 full-time jobs. Located in Nampa, the 650,000-square-foot facility is slated to open in 2020. The fulfillment center is being developed in partnership with Pannotoni Development Co. Inc. Amazon plans to utilize the center to fulfill customer orders such as books, electronics and toys.

FORT COLLINS, COLO. — Landmark Properties has started construction of The Standard at Fort Collins, a 780-bed community serving students and young professionals near Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The community is set for completion in fall 2020. The property will offer studio, one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom units. Shared amenities will include a rooftop swimming pool, coffee bar, study lounge, private study rooms, a 24-hour fitness center, clubhouse, grilling spaces and outdoor courtyards. Katerra is serving as general contractor for the project.
