EVANS, GA. — Meybohm Commercial Properties is nearing completion on the first building at The Plaza at Evans Towne Center, a $60 million mixed-use project in Evans, roughly 10 miles northwest of Augusta. The 58,000-square-foot building, named the Meybohm Building, is part of the project’s first phase. The building will be the new home of Meybohm Real Estate, an Augusta-based real estate company and the parent company of Meybohm Commercial Properties. Meybohm Real Estate will consolidate its training center, new homes division and local Evans office into 15,000 square feet at the new space. In addition, Your Pie Pizzeria will open a location at the building and additional tenants will be announced soon, according to Meybohm. Upon completion, The Plaza at Evans Towne Center will include six mixed-use buildings, a central park and a performing arts building. Ground-level spaces will be dedicated to retail and restaurants, and 2,000 parking spaces have been planned for the site. Michael Watkins Architect LLC is the master-planner for project, and R.W. Allen Construction is the general contractor. Atlanta-based architect firm TSW designed the Phase I buildings, as well as the outdoor park. A timeline for the project was not disclosed.

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — PointOne Holdings, in partnership with Hathaway Development, has started construction on the Exchange at Holly Springs, a 316-unit apartment community in Holly Springs, roughly 20 miles southwest of Raleigh. The gated community will feature a clubhouse, business center, fitness center, resort-style pool with outdoor grilling areas, a dog park, detached garages, package concierge services and bike storage. Units will feature granite countertops, designer cabinetry and hardwood style flooring. A construction timeline for the project was not disclosed.
RENO, NEV. — SupplyHouse.com has leased 190,871 of industrial space at North Valleys Commerce Center in Reno. The space is located at 9460 N. Virginia St. The new lease brings Phase I of the commerce center to full occupancy. The owners will implement approximately $1 million in tenant improvements to the property for the new tenant, an online plumbing and heating parts and supplies retailer. The project’s developer is Panattoni Development. Tectonics will serve as the architect, while Alston Construction is the general contractor.
LAS VEGAS — Spring Hills Senior Communities has announced plans for Poet’s Walk Summerlin memory care community in the northwest submarket of Las Vegas. The community will feature 72 beds. The project is part of Spring Hills’ continued expansion plans within the memory care sector.
DALLAS — Home décor retailer At Home will open a 108,000-square-foot store at the corner of President George Bush Turnpike and Firewheel Parkway in northeast Dallas. Situated on 11.1 acres, the store is expected to open during the fourth quarter. Michael Meaden and Andrew Wiley of JLL, along with Rich Flaten of CBRE, represented the partnership that sold the future site of the store. Karla Smith of CBRE represented the buyer in the land sale. Plano, Texas-based At Home operates approximately 115 stores across the country.
MIAMI — Carrfour Supportive Housing, in conjunction with Green Mills Group, has opened Karis Village, a $30 million affordable housing community located at 11885 S.W. 216th St. in Miami’s Goulds neighborhood. Karis Village includes 88 units, 74 of which are reserved for tenants earning 60 percent or less of the area median income (AMI). The remaining 14 units are reserved for those earning 33 percent or less of the AMI. In addition, approximately half of the community’s units are set aside for at-risk veterans transitioning from homelessness. Karis Village includes studio to two-bedroom units and features a children’s playground, library, computer lab, fitness center and an outdoor barbecue and patio area. The community is also certified by the Florida Green Building Coalition and is equipped with solar panels, low VOC paint, low-flow bathroom fixtures and Energy Star-certified appliances. Trinity Empowerment Consortium, a HUD-affiliated agency that provides pre- and post- homebuyer education and financial literacy education, will occupy 3,000 square feet on the ground floor of the community for its Miami headquarters. Crossroads Management Inc., the property management subsidiary of Carrfour Supportive Housing, will manage the property. BELTON, MO. — Venture Construction has broken ground on a 10,000-square-foot restaurant for Cracker Barrel in Belton, about 20 miles south of Kansas City. The property will be located on the southeast corner of 163rd Street and I-49. Cracker Barrel plans to hire more than 175 employees at the location. The opening is slated for this fall. This will be the 18th Cracker Barrel location in the state of Missouri.
OAKLAND, CALIF. — CIM Group has started construction of a residential development located at 40 Harrison St. at Jack London Square, a 12-acre entertainment and business destination on Oakland’s waterfront. The eight-story property will feature 333 apartments in a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans, as well as 2,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space. On-site amenities will include communal gathering spots, outdoor terraces and lounges, fitness center, and a bike storage and care facility. Completion is slated for the end of 2020. The property is a continuation of CIM’s redevelopment of Jack London Square. In March 2016, CIM acquired seven buildings of Jack London Square that included three office buildings with ground- and second-floor retail, three retail buildings, a parking structure with ground-floor retail, and three land parcels, including 40 Harrison St.
SHERMAN, TEXAS — Cadence McShane Construction Co. will build a new, 527,000-square-foot campus for Sherman High School in north Texas. Designed by VLK Architects, the campus will include three main academic buildings, a 2,000-seat stadium, an 800-seat auditorium, a competition gym and four practice gyms, competition baseball and softball fields and a 50,000-square-foot fieldhouse. The project is being financed through a $176 million bond package approved by City of Sherman voters in November 2017. According to the Sherman Herald Democrat, the campus will be complete in time for the 2020 school year.
DES MOINES, IOWA — The Weitz Company has completed construction of the Hilton Des Moines Downtown. The 330-room convention center hotel spans 322,000 square feet. The $101 million project was financed with a mix of public and private money, according to the Des Moines Register. The Iowa Events Center Hotel Corp., a nonprofit established by Polk County in partnership with Bankers Trust, oversaw the project. The Waldinger Corp. and Baker Electric served as local subcontractors.
