MINNEAPOLIS — A partnership between Ryan Cos. US Inc. and Weidner Apartment Homes is developing an apartment project in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis. Sons of Norway, a financial services and international cultural organization, has sold its 60,000-square-foot headquarters building and land parcel to make way for the redevelopment project. Plans call for 15,000 square feet of first-floor office space that Sons of Norway will occupy at the apartment property. Keith Collins, Abe Appert, Ted Abramson and Brian Pankratz of CBRE represented Sons of Norway in the sale. John Lorence and Neil Kolatkar of CBRE represented Sons of Norway in its new lease at the project. The properties in the sale include 1455 W. Lake St., 3001 Humboldt Ave., 3015 Humboldt Ave., 3025 Humboldt Ave. and 3016 Holmes Ave.

Xscape-Theatres-Katy-Texas

KATY, TEXAS — Indiana-based Xscape Theatres will open a 12-screen, 52,000-square-foot venue within The Crossing at Katy Fulshear, a Walmart-anchored retail center being developed in the western Houston suburb of Katy. The theater, which is slated to open in October, will feature seating for 1,530 guests and more than 500 parking spaces. Rob Banzhaf of Newcor Commercial Real Estate represented Xscape in its acquisition of a 7.2-acre tract. Erin Dyer and Liz Jacob internally represented the developer, Lovett Commercial.

SMYRNA, GA. — Atlanta-based developer Prestwick Cos. has unveiled plans to build The Eddy at Riverview Landing, a 310-unit apartment community in Smyrna, roughly 17 miles north of downtown Atlanta. The community will be located along the Chattahoochee River within Riverfront Landing, an 82-acre mixed-use project under development by Ardent Cos. The Eddy is one of the first components to rise at the project. The community will offer one- to three-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 632 to 1,435 square feet, and rents will start at $1,150 per month. Interiors will include granite countertops, hardwood plank flooring, high-end cabinetry and stainless steel appliances. Community amenities will include an infinity pool with cabanas, fitness center, dog wash, resident lounge and on-site bike storage. In addition, The Eddy will include a 12-acre park and 8,000 square feet of retail that will house a coffee shop, restaurant and coworking space. Prestwick Cos. will dedicate the waterfront park to the City of Smyrna upon completion. DAVIS, CALIF. — HighBridge Properties will soon break ground on Lincoln40, a 708-bed student housing community located near the University of California, Davis. The community will include a mix of three-, four- and five-bedroom, fully furnished units with bed-to-bath parity. Shared amenities will include a fitness center, game room, café lounge, swimming pool with cabanas, and outdoor lounges with barbeque stations and gas fire pits. In addition, the community will offer LincolnLift, a student rental-assistance program that will offer reduced monthly rents to students based on 50 to 60 percent of the area’s median income. The program will be available for up to 10 percent of the property’s residents. Lincoln40 is expected to open in time for the 2020-2021 academic year.

HURST, TEXAS — Renaissance Development will develop Quarry Falls, a mixed-use project at the site of an abandoned limestone quarry in Hurst, a northeastern suburb of Fort Worth. The project will be situated on an 80-acre site and is expected to feature multifamily, hospitality and entertainment components. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, construction could begin this year and span three to four years with costs as high as $280 million.

DETROIT — Bagley Forest Properties plans to redevelop the former B. Siegal department store building in Detroit into retail and multifamily space. The property is located at the intersection of Livernois Avenue and 7 Mile Road. Construction of the 29,000-square-foot project is expected to begin in the next 45 days with completion slated for early 2019. Matt Hessler of Bagley Forest Properties owns the property. Arthur Itkis and Aaron Moore of JLL will market the property for lease.

MCLEAN, VA. — Hampton by Hilton has opened three new Hampton Inn hotels in the Southeast: Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Glenarden/Washington, D.C.; Hampton Inn by Hilton Forsyth in metro Atlanta; and Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Tallahassee Capitol-University. Each of the hotels feature complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, business center, pool and laundry facilities. In addition to the new locations in the Southeast, McLean-based Hampton by Hilton recently opened a Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Chicago Burr Ridge near downtown Chicago and the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Lafayette Medical in Lafayette, Colo., roughly 23 miles north of Denver. The new hotels join Hampton’s portfolio of more than 2,330 properties worldwide.

NEW YORK CITY — Developer Lightstone has topped out construction for its 37-story Moxy Chelsea hotel located at 105 W. 28th St. in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. The project is the second of four Moxy hotels that Lightstone is developing in New York City in partnership with Marriott. Lightstone broke ground on Moxy Chelsea in the summer of 2016, and the hotel is slated to open this fall. Designed in collaboration by Yabu Pushelberg and the Rockwell Group, the 349-room hotel will feature meeting studios, co-working space and a glass-enclosed rooftop bar with a retractable roof that features views of the Empire State Building and New York City skyline.

BOGOTA, N.J. — The Goldstein Group has completed the sale of a redevelopment site located at 250 and 300 West Fort Lee Road in Bogota, New Jersey. The site will become a multifamily mixed-use development. Lew Finkelstein and CJ Huter of the Goldstein Group represented both the seller, BR Colony Holdings, and the buyer, River Club Development, in the transaction. The site is slated for 421 residential apartments across five buildings, along with 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Amenities planned for the site include a pool, clubhouse, dog park and walkway promenade along the Hackensack River. Once completed, the development could increase Bogota’s population of 8,200 people by around 10 percent, according to Goldstein. Bogota is 12 miles northwest of Manhattan and 14 miles north of Jersey City.

ST. PETERS, MO. — Amazon Inc. has unveiled plans for its first Missouri fulfillment center that will be located in St. Peters, a northwestern suburb of St. Louis. The 800,000-square-foot center will create more than 1,500 full-time jobs for picking, packing and shipping small items such as books, electronics and toys. Amazon currently operates a sortation center in Hazelwood, Mo. A timeline for development was not disclosed.
