TEMPE, ARIZ. — Hilton has opened the new dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix-Tempe ASU Research Park and Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix-Tempe ASU Research Park in Tempe. These hotels will add 228 new rooms to the Arizona State University area. Developer RB-WW Tempe LLC owns the properties, which Widewaters Tempe Hotel Management Company LLC manages. The hotels are situated across the street from the 320-acre ASU Research Park, which serves as the headquarters for GoDaddy and Shutterfly, among others. The hotel has two distinct lobbies and will share access to an outdoor pool, fire pit and barbeque grill area, and fitness center.

JOHNS CREEK, GA. — Eye care manufacturing company Alcon will invest $97 million to expand its production capacity in Johns Creek, roughly 27 miles north of Atlanta. The expansion will create about 100 new jobs at Alcon’s nearly 1 million-square-foot manufacturing campus, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. In 2015, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal announced the company had created 550 jobs and invested $500 million in the Johns Creek community since 2013. Since the beginning of the growth project four years ago, Alcon has expanded the size of its manufacturing facility by 70,000 square feet. The multi-year project will expand the company’s production capacity for DAILIES TOTAL1 contact lenses.
LEBANON, N.H. — Dartmouth-Hitchcock and E4H Environments for Health Architecture have opened the new Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care, a 30,000-square-foot skilled nursing and hospice facility. The property is located within the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center campus in Lebanon, located near the Vermont border. The new facility features 12 single-occupancy patient rooms that offer a home-like setting. The Jack Byrne Center will also serve as an educational and training center for end-of-life caregivers throughout New England. The resource program was developed and will be administered by Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Palliative Care Program in collaboration with hospice and community partners. Construction of the facility by PC Construction began in June 2016. Led by a $10 million commitment from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation in 2014, philanthropic support covered 75 percent of the center’s construction cost.
OAKLAND, CALIF. — Pinnacle RED Group has announced plans to build a mixed-use, two-tower high rise in Oakland. The 36-story property would be built at 1261 Harrison and, if completed, will be the tallest building in Oakland, according to the developers. The project will feature 185 units of market-rate and affordable housing, 120,000 square feet of Class A office space and 12,000 square feet of commercial/retail space. Lowney Architecture will design the project.
PHOENIX — AC Hotel by Marriott will be added to Arizona Center, a mixed-use entertainment destination in downtown Phoenix’s. The 200-room hotel will be built on a 49,190-square foot parcel on 5th Street between Fillmore and Van Buren streets. The 31-story tower is slated to begin construction in 2018. LaPour Partners is developing the hotel. Parallel Capital Partners own Arizona Center.
NEW YORK CITY — Ceruzzi Holdings and SMI USA have topped out on construction for 138 East 50th Street, a luxury condominium project in Manhattan. The 63-story, 280,000-square-foot tower will feature 124 condominium units and 7,500 square feet of commercial space on the first floor. Once completed in early 2019, the property will feature a variety of amenities, including a 7,500-square-foot restaurant, an upscale fitness center and spa, a private club space, an indoor pool, a below-grade parking garage and outdoor terraces. Project partners include AECOM Tishman Construction, Pelli Clarke Pelli, SLCE and Champalimaud. Madison Realty Capital provided the construction loan for the project.
NEW YORK CITY — GFI Realty has brokered the sale of a development site located at 203 Sutter Ave. in Brooklyn’s Brownsville section. A local investor acquired the site for $5.6 million. The parcel has a total of 57,648 buildable square feet, with approved plans for a 42-unit residential building. Yisroel Pershin and Eli Shilian of GFI Realty represented the seller, a local investor, while Sylvia Spielman, also of GFI, represented the buyer in the deal.
FARMINGTON, N.M. — Welbrook Senior Living has started construction of its second transitional rehabilitation facility, located in Farmington in the northwest corner of New Mexico. Welbrook partnered with Embree Asset Group, a development company based in Texas, to build the 50-bed property. Welbrook expects to begin accepting patients in late 2018.
Presbyterian Senior Living Completes $14.4M Expansion at Seniors Housing Property in Pennsylvania

OXFORD, PA. — Presbyterian Senior Living has completed a $14.4 million expansion at Ware Presbyterian Village, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Oxford, located midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. The project added a 61-unit building named Westminster Place to the property. Of the new units, 31 have income restrictions set by the Pennsylvania Housing and Financing Administration. Based in nearby Dillsburg, Pa., Presbyterian Senior Living is a nonprofit seniors housing provider with 30 locations in the Mid-Atlantic region.
BOISE, IDAHO — EdR has opened Honors College and Sawtooth Hall, a 656-bed residence hall located on the campus of Boise State University. EdR is leasing the land from the university, and owns the five-story, 236,000-square-foot property. The community includes a dedicated Honors living-learning center and first-year accommodations in the form of 235 two- and four-person, private and semi-private suites. A number of apartment-style units are also included to provide alternatives for upper-division students in the Honors College. The building includes classrooms, study lounges, Honors offices and dining facilities.
