YORKTOWN, N.Y. — Breslin Realty Development has broken ground for a Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse located in Yorktown. Located at 3200 Crompond Road, the 124,000-square-foot retail location will anchor a retail center that also includes three retail pads. The property is slated to open in the first quarter of 2019.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC), a non-profit seniors living developer operator based in The Woodlands, will develop Stevenson Oaks, a 259-unit seniors housing property that will be situated on 19 acres in Fort Worth. The project will deliver 159 independent living units, 36 assisted living units, 24 memory support suites, 24 rehab suites and 16 skilled nursing suites. Located off Chisholm Trail Parkway at Bryant Irvin and Altamesa boulevards, the property will offer amenities such as a fitness center, auditorium and walking trails. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2019, with 2021 the target opening date.

WESTWOOD, N.J. — A joint venture between The Hampshire Cos. and First Westwood Realty has opened an Extra Space Storage location at 15 Madison Ave. in Westwood. Designed by SNS Architects, the 100,000-square-foot facility features 916 self-storage units, 24/7 access, elevators, full climate control, a covered loading area and a state-of-the-art security system. Extra Space Storage will manage the property. This facility is the 37th Extra Space Storage property that The Hampshire Cos. has developed. Since 2012, Hampshire Cos. has repositioned and developed 52 self-storage facilities with an aggregate value of more than $585 million.

SUNY-Farmingdale-Conklin-Hall

EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Farmingdale State College has re-opened Conklin Hall after completing a $12 million redevelopment and renovation of the building. Stalco Construction and BRB Architects transformed the two-story, 19,701-square-foot building — which was originally built as a power plant in 1914 — into a student center. The 11,115-square-foot lower level features a newspaper room, a yearbook room, a student lounge, student club offices and four private offices, while the 8,586-square-foot main level features student government offices, private offices, workstations, a common area and a reception area. The project team included Cameron Engineering & Associates, Hage Engineering, Lakhani & Jordan Engineers, and landscape architects Todd Rader and Amy Crews.

LAFAYETTE, IND. — Home2Suites by Hilton Lafayette has opened in central western Indiana. The 93-suite hotel is designed for travelers who want to maintain their normal routine. The property features a combined laundry and fitness area, indoor pool and grill area, as well as complimentary breakfast. The hotel is located at 3838 Grace Lane near Purdue University. Kamba Hospitality owns the property and Witness Hospitality LLC will manage the hotel.

Waters-at-Wexford-PA

WEXFORD, PA. — The Waters Senior Living has started pre-leasing for The Waters of Wexford, a 143-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Wexford, approximately 15 miles north of Pittsburgh. The community is scheduled to open in June 2018. Once completed, it will feature 114 apartments for independent living with assisted living services available, as well as 29 memory care studios. The property is located on an 18-acre plot that The Waters acquired in November 2016. Development costs at that time were estimated at $38 million. The Waters of Wexford will be the 10th senior living community developed by The Waters Senior Living and the first in Pennsylvania. All of the companies’ current properties are in the its home state of Minnesota.

GAINESVILLE, FLA. — Concept Cos., in partnership with Gateway Development Services and Harvest Capital Group, has broken ground on 800 Second at Innovation Square, a 55,000-square-foot office building located adjacent to the University of Florida in Gainesville. The first floor of the building will include a bistro and coffee shop, as well as a work studio with a variety of spaces, including individual office suites, co-working/shared offices and conference rooms. The top three floors will contain office space. The building will be part of Innovation Square, a 25-acre mixed-use project that will support the technology and research ventures of the University of Florida and the greater Gainesville community. The project is being developed in a public-private partnership. 800 Second is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2018.

MARINA DEL REY, CALIF. — California Landmark Group (CLG) has started construction of the 230-unit G8 apartment community in the Marina Arts District adjacent to Marina del Rey. The $100 million community will be located at 13448 W. Beach Ave. in the Los Angeles submarket. Common-area amenities include a park, three courtyards with pools, collaborative indoor and outdoor workspaces, a fitness center, and a rooftop deck offering views of the city and ocean. The project will also include 25,000 square feet of renovated creative office space. G8 will be one of the largest multifamily developments to be built on Los Angeles’ Westside in several years, according to CLG.

HARTFORD, CONN. — RBH Group has acquired a long-vacant commercial building, located at 370 Asylum St. in Hartford, for $20 million. RBH Group plans to redevelop the building into Teachers Corner Hartford, a mixed-use space. The development will feature market-rate and affordable residential units, space for educational opportunities and cultural performances, as well as restaurant and retail components. Laurie Grasso and Douglas Hoffmann of Hunton & Williams advised in the acquisition. Teachers Corner Hartford represents the first transaction in RBH Group’s national rollout of its Teachers Village concept following the first Teachers Village project in Newark, N.J., a $150 million, 23-acre mixed-use community. Teachers Corner Hartford is a realization of RBH Group’s continued joint venture with the Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group and its partnering with Hartford’s Community Solutions and The Prudential Social Investment Group, with funding provided by the City of Hartford and various Connecticut state agencies.
