COLLEGE PARK, GA. — BMW will develop a new technical training center on the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) campus in College Park, roughly two miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The facility will span 4.1 acres and will bring approximately 10,000 BMW professionals annually for corporate training. The BMW training facility joins other new developments in College Park including ThePad on Harvard, a multifamily community; the expansion of the Federal Aviation Administration Region IV Headquarters; the creation of a multipurpose arena at the GICC that will become the future home of the Atlanta Hawks Development League team; and plans for expansion of the Chick-fil-A corporate headquarters.

EDGERTON, KAN. — Horizon Global has unveiled plans to open a 512,000-square-foot distribution facility in Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC) in Edgerton. Construction is nearing completion on the facility, which is expected to create more than 120 new jobs. Horizon Global’s new home will be located in Inland Port XXXII. NorthPoint Development serves as the master developer for LPKC, a 1,700-acre master-planned distribution and warehouse development anchored by BNSF Railway’s newest intermodal facility. Since opening in 2013, LPKC is now home to more than 11 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space.
NEW YORK CITY — Sun Moon LLC is developing a Marriott Fairfield at 100 Greenwich St. in Lower Manhattan. Slated to open this summer, the 75,000-square-foot hotel will feature 192 rooms and 2,400 square feet of ground-floor restaurant and bar space. Gene Kaufman Architect designed the hotel, which features a five-story black granite base. The hotel’s 25-story tower uses air rights that were part of a zoning lot assemblage. The assemblage includes a previously completed 50-story Holiday Inn, located at 99 Washington St. VLDG designed the interior of the hotel.
NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS — San Antonio-based developer Koontz Corp. has broken ground on a 10-acre office project within Sundance Business Park in New Braunfels. The two-phase project will deliver approximately 120,000 square feet of office space, with Phase I targeting an April 2018 completion. The company is also developing a 313-unit multifamily property located across the street.
NEW YORK CITY — TF Cornerstone has completed the development of 33 Bond, a 25-story apartment development located in Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects, 33 Bond features 714 rental units in studio, one- and two-bedroom open-concept layouts, a 24-hour attended lobby, package attendant, club lounge with billiards table, screening room, designated event space, bicycle store, parking garage and an on-site pet grooming space. Residences feature white oak floors, state-of-the-art kitchens with stainless steel appliances, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Additionally, the property features HomeWork, a full-scale collaborative workspace, and 60,000 square feet of retail space occupied by Chelsea Piers, a fitness, health and lifestyle center, and Devocion, a Colombian coffee roaster.
BAYTOWN, TEXAS — Pennsylvania-based investment firm Sigma Hospitality has opened Home2 Suites by Hilton Baytown, a 96-room hotel located off Interstate 10 at 7512 Garth Road in the Houston metro of Baytown. The hotel will offer amenities such as a combined laundry and fitness center, outdoor pool and meeting space that can accommodate up to 61 people. The property is also pet-friendly.
ORANGE BEACH, ALA. — Hotel Equities has opened Island House Hotel Orange Beach — a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, located at 26650 Perdido Beach Blvd. in Orange Beach. The Atlanta-based company completed a multimillion-dollar renovation prior to opening. The 10-story, 161-room hotel features 6,000 square feet of meeting, ballroom and banquet space and is located on a private beach on Alabama’s Gulf Coast.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crescent Communities has unveiled plans for Crescent Montford Park, a mixed-use community in south Charlotte’s Montford Park neighborhood. The project will be developed at the site of the former Pfeiffer University Charlotte and will feature 337 apartments and 17,000 square feet of retail space. Atlanta-based Fortune-Johnson is the community’s general contractor, Charlotte-based LandDesign is the civil engineer and KTGY Architecture is leading the development’s design. Interiors for the community were designed by Vignette Interior Design. Adam Williams of Legacy Real Estate Advisors will manage retail leasing of the property, which is slated for completion in spring 2019.
TINLEY PARK, ILL. — WoodSpring Hotels has partnered with Holladay Properties to develop its third hotel in the Chicago market. The four-story, 123-room hotel will be located in Tinley Park, near the intersection of I-80 and Harlem Avenue. The extended-stay hotel will feature in-room kitchens, high-speed Internet, guest laundry and a fitness room. Completion is slated for February 2018. Holladay Properties currently owns and operates two WoodSpring Suites hotels in Romeoville and Darien, Illinois.
WINDSOR MILL, MD. — Morgan Properties has unveiled plans to launch a $25 million renovation of a six-property portfolio consisting of 1,979 units in Windsor Mill. Known as Rolling Road, the portfolio underwent a rebranding and property consolidation into three communities: The Townhomes at Diamond Ridge, The Glens at Diamond Ridge and The Apartments at Diamond Ridge. Pennsylvania-based Morgan Properties purchased the assets, located roughly 30 miles northwest of Baltimore, from Harbor Group International for $247 million in February. The renovations will take place over a five-year period and include improvements to common area amenities, in-unit kitchen and bathroom upgrades, clubhouse upgrades and the addition of dog parks, playgrounds, outdoor grilling areas, fire pits, putting greens, sport courts and outdoor fitness stations.
