LOCUST GROVE, GA. — John Hancock Real Estate and CRG are teaming up to develop a 1 million-square-foot industrial building located in Locust Grove, roughly 30 miles south of Atlanta in the city’s South Atlanta industrial submarket. The facility will feature 36-foot clear heights, 236 trailer spaces, 148 dock-high doors and 386 parking spaces. CRG’s parent company Clayco will serve as the design-builder, and its subsidiary Forum Studio is the architect on the project. Situated a half mile from the Interstate 75-Bill Garner Parkway interchange, the facility will be the first component of a 311-acre development that can accommodate 4.5 million square feet of industrial space. The development team expects the building to be available for occupancy in early 2018.

CHICAGO — The Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) has selected The Missner Group to undertake a renovation and expansion project for the company’s North Canal Street offices in Chicago. The 2,900-square-foot expansion will include interior improvements, a new physical therapy gym, reception area, paint and flooring. Heath Yarger is the project manager and Steve Bulger is the project superintendent for The Missner Group. Stephen Rankin Associates is providing the architectural services. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2017.
RAYTOWN, MO. — Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has opened a new, 3,625-square-foot location at 10019 E. 350 Highway in Rayotwn, a southeastern suburb of Kansas City. The new restaurant will be part of Block & Co. Inc.’s Raytown 350 Development, which includes an IHOP and is located across from a Walmart Super Center.
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Hampton Inn & Suites is now open in Bridgewater. RD Management owns the 133-room property and developed it in partnership with XSS Hotels. Colwen Hotels will manage the property. Located at 1277 Route 22 W., the hotel is located near I-287 and Bridgewater Commons Mall. Amenities include an indoor heated pool, fitness center, meeting space, 24-hour business center, free breakfast, an on-site lounge and bar, 24-hour snack shop and complimentary Wi-Fi.
COPT to Develop Two Build-to-Suit Industrial Projects in Northern Virginia Totaling 300,000 SF

ASHBURN, VA. — Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) has executed two long-term leases with a subsidiary of an unnamed Fortune 500 company for two build-to-suit industrial facilities totaling nearly 300,000 square feet. The buildings will be situated within Paragon Park in Ashburn, roughly 33 miles west of Washington, D.C. COPT plans to deliver one of the facilities by the end of the year and the second in the first quarter of 2018.
HOUSTON — Baker Katz, a Houston-based partner of the X Team International commercial real estate services network, has purchased four acres of land along Beltway 8 in Houston. The company plans to break ground later this year on the site for two multi-tenant retail buildings totaling 20,000 square feet. Situated near Port Houston, the retail buildings are expected to accommodate restaurants that require drive-thru capabilities. Chris Pitts of Streetwise Retail Advisors represented Baker Katz in the land purchase.
HARRISBURG AND PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA. — PREIT has added new tenants at two of its Pennsylvania malls. At Capital City Mall in Harrisburg, a lease has been executed with Dave & Buster’s. The 28,000-square-foot dining and entertainment venue will open in fall 2018. At Plymouth Meeting Mall in the Philadelphia suburb of Plymouth Meeting, PREIT has executed a lease with 5 Wits, an entertainment destination named after the five senses. The live-action experience is designed to immerse guests in realistic situations including hands-on challenges requiring teamwork. The 14,000-square-foot location will be located across from LEGOLAND Discovery Center and will open this fall. In addition, CYCLEBAR, an indoor cycling concept, will open a Plymouth Meeting Mall location on May 18.
ELLENWOOD, GA. — Hillwood plans to build Clayton Commerce Center, a 797,580-square-foot distribution center located near Interstate 675 in Ellenwood, about nine miles east of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The facility will be Hillwood’s first metro Atlanta project built on a speculative basis. The property will include 36-foot clear heights, an ESFR sprinkler system, cross-dock configuration, 231 trailer storage spaces and 442 parking spaces for automobiles. Clayton County is the only county in metro Atlanta to be designated Tier 1 by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and Hillwood’s development is expected to offer potential tenants job tax credits and property tax reductions. Hillwood has selected Reliant Real Estate Partners to lease Clayton Commerce Center, which is expected to come on line in December.
NEWARK, N.J. — Edison Properties has begun construction at Ironside Newark, a mixed-use building in downtown Newark. Located at the corner of Edison Place and McCarter Highway (Route 21), Ironside Newark will transform the warehouse building into a commercial and retail destination. Designed by New York City-based Perkins Eastman, the project will include 456,000 square feet of offices across its six upper floors, with access to a rooftop featuring green space and views of Newark and Manhattan. Two floors of retail and restaurant space will front the newly announced Mulberry Commons Park, providing a link between Ironside Newark and Newark Penn Station, Prudential Center arena and downtown Newark. Hollister Construction Services will serve as the sole construction manager on the project. Construction on the building is expected to last 18 months, with opening tentatively scheduled for fall 2018.
KUTZTOWN, PA. — Good Shepherd Medical Center at Weis Plaza has opened in Kutztown. Weis Plaza is a retail center anchored by Weis Supermarket, with other tenants including Dollar General and National Auto Stores. The center is located one mile from the University of Kutztown. Good Shepherd is an Allentown, Pa.-based rehabilitation center offering care for people with medical needs, physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities and injuries. Nassimi Realty, a privately held development and investment company specializing in the redevelopment of existing properties, is the owner of Weis Plaza.
