MESA, ARIZ. — Skanska is completing construction on Phase I of Dexcom’s 145,000-square-foot build-out of an existing shell building in Mesa. The facility will be located at 232 S. Dobson Road. The first phase includes the renovation of a 60,000-square-foot industrial warehouse to medical device manufacturing space that will produce hardware- and software-compatible glucose monitors. The space includes 33,000 square feet of controlled environment room, chem prep and microbiology labs, 20,000 square feet of production machine shop and high-bay warehouse space, 42,000 square feet of equipment mezzanines, and 20,000 square feet of office, training and support space. A new 10,000-square-foot central utility building and equipment yard will also be built on-site.

TYLER, TEXAS — Abby Development has acquired 16 acres on Grand Boulevard near the intersection of Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler for the development of Auberge of Tyler, a 234-unit, Class A multifamily community. Amenities will include a stocked fishing lake, saltwater pool, 24-hour fitness center, resident coffee bar and a yoga studio. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2017, and completion is slated for the first quarter of 2019.

JOLIET, ILL. — Peak Construction has broken ground on Building 14 in IDI Gazeley’s Rock Run Business Park in Joliet. The 291,728-square-foot speculative building will feature 36-foot clear heights, 38 dock doors, 234 parking spots and 88 trailer stalls. Completion is slated for this November. Peak teamed up with Sparks Architects Inc. and Jacob & Hefner Associates for civil engineering services on the project.

MINNEAPOLIS — Catholic Eldercare has unveiled plans to develop a 65-unit seniors housing property in Minneapolis. Construction will begin this August with occupancy slated for summer 2018. In addition to one- and two-bedroom units, the community will feature food and concierge services. Apartment sizes will range from 800 to1,300 square feet. Catholic Eldercare has owned the land site, located at 2nd Street and Broadway Avenue, since 1994. Miller Hansen Partners is designing the new building, while Frana Cos. Inc. is serving as contractor.

NEW CANAAN, CONN. — CH Vitti Street Associates and Collins Enterprises will develop a mixed-use medical and residential property at 23 Vitti St. in New Canaan. Known as New Canaan Medical Arts Center, construction will begin in May and will be completed in spring 2018. Do H. Chung & Partners is the project architect and Avison Young will serve as leasing agent. The two-story, 9,000-square-foot medical center will be constructed along the parcel’s 121 feet of frontage, with a public courtyard along Vitti Street. The commercial portion of the project includes 2,000 square feet of medical space on the first floor and 7,000 square feet on the second floor, which can be subdivided. Building features will include automated doors and a medical grade HVAC system with HEPA filtration. The project also includes eight apartments to be developed as a separate building on the site. Each use will have its own entrance and will be separated by a landscaped parking area and residential pathways. The site is located in downtown New Canaan within walking distance of restaurants, services and transportation.

OXNARD, CALIF. — E&E Trust has purchased a 3.8-acre parcel of land within the McInnes Ranch Business Park in Oxnard for an undisclosed sum. The land is located at 500 N. Elevar St. The parcel will soon house a 52,500-square-foot speculative warehouse distribution building. Mitch Conlee of Daum Commercial represented the buyer and seller, a local developer, in this transaction.

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. — Brodson Construction has wrapped up construction on the expansion of Shake Shack on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. Brodson expanded the restaurant by 586 square feet, bringing the eatery’s interior square footage to 2,231 square feet. Brodson has completed five Shake Shack locations in the Southeast and is currently building another in Orlando.

SAN ANTONIO — California-based video subscription company Hulu will open a viewer experience operations center in San Antonio. The center, which will measure 45,000 square feet, according to the San Antonio Express-News, will serve as a customer service center to aid the rollout of the company’s new live television service and redesigned interface. The opening of the center in 2017 is expected to create at least 500 new jobs by 2018.

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS — The Woodlands Development Co., a division of The Howard Hughes Corp., has opened its second self-storage facility at 32010 FM 2978 in The Woodlands Village of Sterling Ridge, a mixed-use development on the northern outskirts of Houston. CubeSmart, a Pennsylvania-based self-storage REIT, will manage the 784-unit facility, which features gated entry, video surveillance and free moving truck services.
