ORLANDO, FLA. — Roger B. Kennedy Construction has broken ground on Drake Midtown Apartments, a five-story, 263-unit apartment development in the Lake Mary submarket of Orlando. Unicorp National Developments Inc. is developing the $65 million project, which is slated for completion in June 2018. Goldman Sachs Bank USA provided financing for the property.

ROUND ROCK — Equity Inc., an Ohio-based developer and broker, has opened Physicians Centre, a 21,000-square-foot, two-story medical office building located at 505 W. Louis Henna Blvd. in the Austin suburb of Round Rock. Austin-based general contractor The Burt Group oversaw construction of the building, and American Bank N.A. provided the financing. Tenants include Capital Surgeons Group, Snyder Dermatology and Parkway Primary Care.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — Equity Inc., an Ohio-based developer and broker, has begun construction on Palmetto Primary Care Physicians Medical Campus in the community of Nexton, about 30 miles northwest of Charleston. The $32 million project will deliver a 100,000-square-foot Class A medical office with primary and specialty care services, an urgent care center and an imaging lab. Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2018.

LOVELAND, COLO. — Mainstreet is set to open the doors on Medical Center of the Rockies at Centerra, a 70-bed skilled nursing facility in the Fort Collins suburb of Loveland. OZ Architecture designed the 50,000-square-foot property, which is expected to open before the end of this month. Mainstreet is an Indiana-based developer and investor in skilled nursing properties. OZ is a Denver-based architecture firm.

CHICAGO — CenterPoint Properties has been selected by CRRC Sifang America Inc. to develop a 380,944-square-foot industrial building for the rail car manufacturer in Chicago. Located on 45 acres at 13535 S. Torrence Ave., the facility will include warehouse, office and rail car assembly and testing space. The building footprint also incorporates room for future growth and expansion of CRRC’s North American production capabilities. The Chicago assembly facility will serve initially to fulfill a contract between CRRC and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) for new rail cars. CRRC will assemble, test and deliver the CTA’s new, modern 7000 Series transit cars, with the first cars expected by 2019. The building will achieve a LEED certification upon completion and feature LED lighting for internal production lighting, skylights for natural lighting, water-efficient fixtures, natural landscaping and storm water management. A groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 16.

HOUSTON — The Houston Housing Authority (HHA), a provider of homes for low-income Houstonians, will break ground on a 154-unit multifamily property located at 302 Crosstimbers St. on Monday, March 20. The project for mixed-income residents represents HHA’s first multifamily development in the Independence Heights neighborhood, located slightly northwest of downtown, in more than a decade.

KISSIMMEE, FLA. — Williams Co. Southeast has broken ground on St. Cloud Commons, a 225,000-square-foot retail center located in Kissimmee, a city on the southern outskirts of Orlando. Situated on a 33-acre site near the intersection of the Florida Turnpike and U.S. Highway 192, the center is pre-leased to tenants such as Hobby Lobby, Outback Steakhouse and Panera Bread. Delivery is slated for October.

HACKENSACK, N.J. — The second phase of a three-phase renovation project has begun on The Shops at Riverside, a retail center in Hackensack. Work on the first phase will be completed this summer with the creation of a dining and entertainment district. Offerings will include a movie theater with a lounge and bar operated by AMC, the relocation of The Cheesecake Factory and additional restaurants and specialty stores. The second phase will be completed by the end of 2017 and will involve renovations to both the interior and exterior of the property. Interior enhancements will include new floor tile, a crystal chandelier and water feature, and a sculptural floating stair in the center court near Omega. The refresh will also include additional skylights and raised ceilings. The third phase will redevelop the south mall adjacent to Bloomingdale’s. The existing shops will be reconfigured to create a loop around a central focal point where a portion of the second level will be removed to create 35-foot ceilings.

BATON ROUGE, LA. — GBT Realty Corp., a Nashville-based commercial developer, has broken ground on a 6,600-square-foot retail center on Millerville Road in Baton Rouge. GBT acquired the nearly one-acre site from Target in February for $810,000. Shadow-anchored by Target, Best Buy, Lowe’s Home Improvement, PetSmart and Office Depot, the center is 100 percent pre-leased to tenants such as PacificDental, GNC and Zoes Kitchen.

RICHARDSON, TEXAS — Mycon General Contractors has been awarded the preconstruction and general contracting rights to build a $6.3 million addition to Woodcreek Church, a 27.1-acre property located at 3400 E. Renner Road in the north Dallas suburb of Richardson. The expansion will comprise 28,654 square feet and will be used for educational purposes. Completion is scheduled for fall 2017.
