CHATTANOOGA, TENN. — CBL & Associates Properties Inc. plans to redevelop four Macy’s anchor locations in its portfolio that will close at the end of March. The Macy’s stores were announced to be closing by Macy’s last week. The four locations include Jefferson Mall in Louisville, Ky.; Layton Hills Mall in Layton, Utah; Parkdale Mall in Beaumont, Texas; and Eastland Mall in Bloomington, Ill. CBL will replace the Macy’s at Layton Hills Mall with a new anchor retailer, which will open its new store by the end of the year. Macy’s Inc. currently owns the other three locations and will sell them to CBL for a total of $5 million. In addition to these four locations, Macy’s will close its store at River Ridge Mall in Lynchburg, Va., in which CBL holds a minority interest. The majority owner of the mall will handle the acquisition and redevelopment of this store.

FORT LAUDERDALE AND MIAMI, FLA. — Alliance Residential Co. plans to open two of its Broadstone properties in South Florida. The projects include the 394-unit Broadstone Harbor Beach located at 1721 S.E. 17th St. in Fort Lauderdale and the 372-unit Broadstone at Brickell located at 255 S.W. 11th St. in Miami’s Brickell district. Broadstone Harbor Beach’s studio, one- and two-bedroom units are currently pre-leasing, with leases starting from $1,650 to $3,875, and feature open nine-foot ceilings, private balconies and patios and chef-quality kitchens. Units at the 24-story Broadstone at Brickell range from studios to two-bed, two-and-a-half-bath townhomes, which are now pre-leasing at rates ranging from $1,759 to $3,760, and feature well-equipped kitchens, custom cabinets, tile flooring throughout common living spaces and upscale bathrooms. Both properties feature a private movie theater, fitness center with a yoga studio and boxing ring and a resort-style pool with an outdoor lounge and cabanas. Additional amenities at the Fort Lauderdale property include a courtyard with outdoor games, outdoor shower, dog park and a massage room, and the Miami property features bike repair and storage, a pet spa, 24-hour business center and a cyber café.

DEFOREST, WIS. — Ryan Cos. U.S. Inc. has completed construction of a new 132,730-square-foot processing facility for The Little Potato Company in DeForest, a northeast suburb of Madison. The company is in the process of installing specialized food processing equipment within the facility and expects to be fully operational in the first quarter of this year. The facility includes 11,730 square feet of office space and 121,000 square feet of cooler, dry warehouse and processing space. The cooler space is expandable to serve the company’s projected growth. Additional features include 30-foot clear heights, 12 dock doors, two overhead drive-in doors and 130 stalls for employee parking. The project team from Ryan Cos. included Ryan Marks, Nick Kaminski and Steve Hough. Eppstein Uhen Architects provided architectural services.

MIAMI — Related Development LLC, a Miami-based mixed-use and multifamily developer and affiliate of The Related Group, has six projects set to begin construction in Tampa, Orlando, Palm Beach County and Atlanta. The Florida projects include the 399-unit Tampa Tribune, a waterfront apartment community located at 202 S. Parker St. in Tampa; Town at Westshore Marina District, a 396-unit mid-rise apartment community located in Tampa’s Westshore district; Town Maitland at Trelago, a 350-unit townhome and Big House multifamily development located in Orlando; and Town Southern, a 392-unit garden-style apartment community located on Southern Boulevard in Royal Palm Beach. In Atlanta, Related Development has two projects planned in Atlanta’s Midtown and Buckhead districts. The developments include a 77,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market, which is Phase II of Related’s 390-unit Apogee Midtown development; and Apogee Buckhead, a 35-story high-rise comprising 362 residential units above three levels of retail and office space.

BETHESDA, MD. — Natixis has provided a $26.5 million, floating-rate loan for Shops of Wisconsin, a 71,748-square-foot neighborhood shopping center in Bethesda. The borrower, Douglas Development, will use the proceeds to refinance the property and provide funds for the tenant improvements of the new Target Express. In addition to the new Target Express, the center also contains nine other national and local tenants, including Trader Joe’s, Gymboree, Jenny Craig and H&R Block.

FAYETTEVILLE, GA. — Caddis has broken ground on Heartis Fayetteville, a 168-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Fayetteville, approximately 20 miles south of Atlanta. The community will comprise three buildings totaling 157,029 square feet that will house 80 independent living units, 56 assisted living apartments and 32 memory care units. This is the first entry into Georgia for Caddis, a healthcare real estate firm based in Dallas, though the company is also planning another Heartis-branded community in nearby Suwanee. Portland, Ore.-based Frontier Management will operate Heartis Fayetteville upon completion, which Caddis expects to be in late 2017. Chicago-based investment firm Singerman Real Estate is a joint venture development partner on the project. The Atlanta office of Choate Construction will be the general contractor.

HAMMOND, LA. — The Home Depot has closed on its purchase of 9.7 acres of land for a new 106,000-square-foot store and 28,000-square-foot garden center as part of the redevelopment of Hammond Square, a 850,000-square-foot shopping center in Hammond developed and managed by Stirling Properties. Hammond Square is situated on nearly 100 acres at the corner of I-12 and US Highway 51 Business. Existing tenants include Target, AMC Theatres, Dillard’s, JC Penney, Academy Sports + Outdoors and Sears. The Home Depot is set to begin construction on the new store before the end of the year and open in 2017.

OKLAHOMA CITY — NewcrestImage is developing an AC Hotel in Oklahoma City. Slated to open in May 2017, the 142-room property will feature 81 modules to form the core of the property. Modules are independent standardized units that can be used to construct a more complex structure, including buildings. The first floor of the five-story hotel will feature traditional construction, while the remaining floors will consist of 81 modules. The modules include all interior furniture, furnishing and equipment and were produced by Boise, Idaho-based Guerdon Modular Buildings. Currently, NewcrestImage has a portfolio of 23 hotels, with an additional 14 hotel under construction or in development.

AURORA, ILL. — Amazon has unveiled plans to open two new fulfillment centers in Aurora, about 45 miles west of Chicago. The facilities will add more than 1,000 jobs. Amazon currently has fulfillment centers in Edwardsville, Joliet and Romeoville. A center is also under construction in Monee, about 40 miles south of Chicago. At the nearly 1 million-square-foot facility in Aurora, employees will pick, pack and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics and consumer goods. The other fulfillment center, spanning 400,000 square feet, will specialize in handling larger items.
