BOERNE, TEXAS — Cordillera Ranch Development Corp. has started the construction of an Outfitter Center at Cordillera Ranch, an 8,700-acre master-planned community in Boerne. Slated for completion in early 2017, the facility will house the River Club and its river and fishing equipment and provide a retail shop fully stocked with fishing, kayaking and outdoor equipment. The River Club is one of the seven resort-style clubs at Cordillera Ranch. Cordillera Ranch Development Corp. is a subsidiary of Texas-based DH Investment Co.

SAN FRANCISCO — Merck has announced its new 294,000-square-foot West Coast research facility will be built in South San Francisco’s innovation cluster. The nine-story laboratory/office campus will be located at 213 E. Grand Ave. The site is fully entitled, with construction expected to commence in early 2017. Merck is scheduled to occupy the building in early 2019. The facility is targeting LEED-Platinum certification. Merck signed a long-term, full-building lease at the facility, which Alexandria Real Estate Equities will develop, construct and operate. The biopharmaceutical company is a current tenant of Alexandria. The campus will feature open green outdoor spaces, a 300-seat auditorium, fitness center, and café and terrace with waterfront views.

TAMPA, FLA. — Rookis Investment Partners and Gulf Coastal Development have broken ground on Arbor Terrace Senior Living, a 139-unit independent living community in Tampa. Atlanta-based The Arbor Co. will manage the community, which is slated for completion in spring 2018. Tampa-based Chancey Design Architects and Interiors designed the project. The company will also handle interior design. Gulf Coastal Development is a Tampa-based developer of residential properties. Rookis Investment Partners brings together architects, builders and real estate professionals to create residential and commercial developments, mainly in Florida.

NEW YORK CITY — A partnership between Quadrum Global, Simon Baron Development, Eagle Point Hotel Partners and KSNY has opened Arlo NoMad, a hotel located at 11 E. 31st St. in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood. The 250-key hotel features self-check-in/check-out kiosks, complimentary WiFi, bedside USB charging stations, music lounges, rooftop terrace and patios. This is the second Arlo hotel that Quadrum has opened in New York City.

LOS ANGELES — Equity Office has announced plans to reposition Howard Hughes Center, a 1.3 million-square-foot office center in the West Los Angeles submarket of Playa Vista. The renovation will transform the project into a connected, creative campus. Initial upgrades will include enhanced, flexible outdoor entertainment areas, drought-tolerant landscaping with mature trees, upgraded “wired” lobbies, contemporary spec suites and customizable floor plans. The repositioning will also better connect the five-building campus. Equity Office is a U.S. office platform that is wholly owned by Blackstone’s real estate funds. Blackstone acquired Howard Hughes Center in November 2016.

MAYNARD, MASS. — Colliers International, on behalf of developer Capital Group Properties, has secured a grocery anchor for the planned 293,500-square-foot Maynard Crossing property in Maynard. Market 32 by Price Chopper has signed a lease for 68,000 square feet of space at the mixed-use project, which is slated to break ground in the second quarter of 2017 with completion scheduled for summer 2018. Upon completion, the project will feature two full-service and two fast-casual restaurants, a 20,000-square-foot health club, a community bank, hardware store, apparel stores, and medical care center, as well as 180 residential rental units and a 143-unit independent senior living facility. Colliers International Boston is the leasing team for the development.

WEST CHESTER, OHIO — Scott Street Properties has broken ground on a retail development along I-75 and The Streets of West Chester, about 25 miles north of Cincinnati. Phase I of the 8.3-acre development will include a couple freestanding buildings and a multi-tenant building featuring two new-to-market concepts. Chuy’s Tex-Mex restaurant and Matt the Miller’s Tavern have committed to the new project. North Shore Construction & Development Services is handling the project management for Scott Street Properties. Tenants are expected to begin opening for business in spring 2017. Eric Abroms and Joshua Rothstein of OnSite Retail Group LLC are handling the marketing and leasing of the new development.

PEORIA, ARIZ. — Armstrong Development Properties is developing a 10,000-square-foot retail strip center in Peoria. The center will be located at 7473 W. Bell Road. A fuel station was recently demolished on the 1.3-acre site to make way for the five-tenant strip center. Café Rio, Smashburger and Mad Greens have already signed onto the project. Construction commenced in mid-September, with an expected completion date of June 2017.

NEW YORK CITY — Meridian Capital Group has arranged $13 million in ground-up construction financing for the development of the Marriott Towne Suites hotel located at 38-42 11th St. in Long Island City. The two-year construction loan, provided by a local savings bank, features full-term interest-only payments and an extension option. Midtown Properties, the borrower, is developing the 10-story extended-stay hotel that will feature 133 guest rooms. Eli Finkel and Michael Ryback of Meridian Capital arranged the financing.

ORLANDO, FLA. — Equinox Development Properties Inc. plans to develop an $18 million retail project located at the corner of Kirkman Road and Raleigh Street in Orlando’s MetroWest area. Situated on a 9.5-acre parcel, the property will feature a new Wawa gas station and convenience store; a two-story, 38,000-square-foot 24-Hour Fitness location; a quick-service restaurant and 11,000 square feet of additional retail space. Equinox plans to break ground on the project in the first quarter of 2017.
