NORWOOD, MASS. — DPS and TRIA have been selected by Moderna Therapeutics to provide architectural, engineering and project management services for a $110 million, 200,000-square-foot clinical manufacturing facility in Norwood. DPS will provide full architectural and engineering design for the facility, as well as construction management oversight, commissioning, qualification, and validation and procurement services. TRIA will design the facility’s clinical labs, offices, employee facilities and a conference center. Construction of the new facility is slated to begin in October, with completion scheduled for early 2018. Moderna Therapeutics is a clinical stage biotechnology company pioneering mRNA therapeutics to create a new generation of transformative medicines for patients.

NEW YORK CITY — Mc Gowan, a construction management firm, has completed the renovation and modernization of The Nightingale-Bamford School, a private K-12 school located at 20 E. 92nd St. on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Mc Gowan served as general contractor for the project, which included the modernizing of the existing 75,000-square-foot property and integrating 25,000 square feet from two adjacent townhouses into the main building. Renovations included the reconfiguration of spaces to a more user-friendly design; expansion of the existing library for middle and upper schools; the addition of modern teaching technology in classrooms; an upgrade of cafeteria spaces; replacement of all floors, ceiling and millwork; an upgrade of the fire alarm system; and replacement of all light fixtures.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Skanska USA plans to invest $112 million for RESA at Tyber Place, a new 12-story multifamily development located at 22 M St. N.E. in Washington, D.C.’s NOMA neighborhood. Skanska USA is the developer and owner of the 326-unit project, which will be the multifamily component of Tyber Place, a three-building mixed-use development that Skanska is planning. The other components include more than 580,000 square feet of office space, more than 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and an open-air courtyard. Skanska is aiming for LEED Silver certification for the new apartment building, which will feature 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a rooftop pool and lounge. Skanska USA will break ground in October with completion scheduled for fourth-quarter 2018.

OVERLAND PARK, KAN. — Senior Living and CA Senior Living are developing The Sheridan at Overland Park, an assisted living and memory care community in Overland Park. As part of the CityPlace mixed-use development, the community will feature 116 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes, including assisted living and memory care units, ranging in size from 315 square feet to 920 square feet. The property will feature a bistro dining and gathering spot, chef-prepared meals, wellness monitoring, best-in-class memory care and 24-hour access to licensed care staff. The community is slated to open in early 2017. CA Senior Living is the senior housing investment and development division of Chicago-based CA Ventures.

DALLAS — Balfour Beatty has been selected by Highland Park Independent School District (HPISD) to serve as the district’s construction partner for a $110 million elementary construction and renovation program. A result of HPISD’s 2015 bond election, the program includes the construction of four elementary schools and renovation of a fifth elementary school. The project’s first phase is underway as Balfour Beatty manages construction of a 100,000-square-foot campus, which is the district’s first new elementary school since 1948. Situated on 4.6 acres, the new elementary school will provide flexible learning spaces, outdoor classrooms and a one-story underground garage with 90 parking spaces. This facility will serve as the “swing” school to accommodate the faculty and students who are subsequently displaced while their new schools are constructed over the following three years. Upon completion of the first school in summer 2017, Balfour Beatty will commence with the demolition and construction of replacement campuses for the three remaining schools. KATY, TEXAS — The first round of retailers will open Oct. 28 in the 89-acre Grand Morton Town Center, including a 125,531-square-foot Kroger Marketplace. The NewQuest Properties project, being developed in phases, ultimately will bring 600,459 square feet of retail, restaurants and medical offices to the neighborhood. Opening in tandem with Kroger Marketplace will be Ideal Dental, Supercuts, T-Mobile and Today’s Vision, totaling 7,700 square feet. Rebecca Le and Josh Friedlander of Houston-based NewQuest will handle leasing. Grand Morton Town Center includes more than three-quarters of a mile of frontage along Grand Parkway. About 60 percent of the project is pre-leased, leased or under negotiation for a lease. The project also includes 16 pad sites, four of which will be occupied by McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A and Whataburger.

LOS ANGELES — Hyatt Hotels Corporation has completed the transition of the Concourse Hotel at Los Angeles Airport to the Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport. The 580-room hotel is undergoing an extensive $75 million renovation. The hotel is situated less than one block from the Los Angeles International Airport. It is the closest hotel to the airport, and the only airport hotel with direct shuttle service to LAX. The hotel offers more than 50,000 square feet of meeting space, including one of the largest ballrooms in the LAX market at 14,000 square feet. The Hyatt also features the only outdoor event lawns in the area, which can accommodate up to 750 guests. A newly built conference center includes more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Dining options include Open Market and Unity L.A. The Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport is currently open and accepting guests.

DALLAS — Invesco will rebrand the 1920 McKinney office tower in Dallas as Parkview at 1920 McKinney, emphasizing the property’s location overlooking Klyde Warren Park. The 12-story, Class A office and retail property is located in the Uptown submarket. The building spans more than 141,000 square feet of rentable office space, with balconies on every office level and views of both the downtown Dallas skyline and the park. Over 50 percent of the property has been leased with 66,000 square feet of contiguous office space available. JLL’s Daryl Mullin, James Esquivel and Ashley Curry are leading the leasing and marketing efforts. The location also offers on-site dining at Water Grill, which is scheduled to open in December, a full-service fitness center, access to the Katy Trail and Klyde Warren Park, 100 percent covered parking and on-site management.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY. — Thompson Thrift Development has begun construction on Hopkinsville Towne Center, a 185,000-square-foot, junior-anchored retail center in Hopkinsville. Situated on the northwest corner of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Lovers Lane, the asset’s tenant roster includes Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, rue 21, Ulta Beauty, Burke’s Outlet, Hibbett Sporting Goods, Rack Room Shoes, Maurice’s, Cato and Panera Bread. Hopkinsville Towne Center’s first tenants are expected to open in late 2017 or early 2018. Kevin Schreiber and Kevin Mayhugh of The Shopping Center Group are leasing the property on behalf of Thompson Thrift. The Shopping Center Group and Thompson Thrift have worked with city and county officials since 2012 to assemble and develop the 20-acre site.

ALGONQUIN, ILL. — Ryan Cos., Life Care Services, an LCS Company, and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital have completed the construction of Clarendale of Algonquin, a $40 million seniors housing community located in Algonquin. The 186-residence property features 76 independent living residences, 56 assisted living and 54 memory care suites in a variety of floor plans based on type of care. Independent living residences range from 720 to 1,285 square feet, while assisted living and memory care residences range from 310 to 835 square feet. The property also features a bistro, pub and billiards rooms, club room and library, living rooms with fireplaces, garage parking, a multipurpose room, wellness center with full-service salon, fitness room, private patio and courtyard, movie theater and a crafts room. Life Care Services of Des Moines, Iowa will manage the community. Clarendale of Algonquin is the second of the Clarendale-branded projects to open in the Chicago area.
