EL PASO, TEXAS — Freedom Crossing at Fort Bliss, the first open-air shopping center on a military installation, will be opening a Cabela’s seasonal store in time for holiday shopping. The 10,000-square-foot store will also include access to the full spectrum of Cabela’s products in-store via Cabelas.com. The Freedom Crossing Cabela’s location will offer soft goods, shoes, hunting gear, outdoors equipment and gifts. In addition to Freedom Crossing at Fort Bliss, Cabela’s will open seasonal locations this year with The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) at Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS — Skanska USA has been awarded a $21 million contract with Texas A&M University to oversee the construction of the Agriculture & Life Science Building 4. The project broke ground on Nov. 13 and it will be completed in February 2017. The five-story, 80,000-square-foot building will house the university’s Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. The first three floors will include offices, conference rooms and dry work areas. The top two floors will include teaching and wet research laboratories. Kirskey Architecture is project architect.
Onyx Equities, Rubenstein Partners Complete $20M Renovation of 30 Montgomery Street in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Onyx Equities and Rubenstein Partners has completed the $20 million renovation of 30 Montgomery Street in Jersey City. The 15-story, 320,000-square-foot building has been transformed into a state-of-the-art, Class A property with an additional 8,000 square feet of retail space. Improvements include a complete replacement of windows, a high-efficiency HVAC system, installation of a backup generator, a new executive conference center, modern finishes in the common areas and the addition of a ground-level, urban retail amenity, which includes a 15-foot vaulted ceiling at the front entrance and possible outside, café-style seating. Vericon Construction served as the lead contractor, while Environetics designed the building’s new features as the architect of record for the project, which took 11 months.
NEW YORK CITY — Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. has unveiled its plans for Building 77, a $140 million renovation of a 1 million-square-foot industrial building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The repositioned property will feature a ground-floor public food hall, space for food manufacturing and a collaboration hub for the growing base of businesses in the area. Upon completion, the renovated building will increase overall employment at the Yard by more than 40 percent, creating 3,000 manufacturing and innovation jobs. Completion is slated for early 2017.
HAMILTON, N.J. — RED Capital Partners has arranged a $36.4 million first mortgage construction loan for the development of Homestead of Hamilton, seniors housing community in Hamilton. The borrower was to Homestead Senior Living LLC. The balance of the capital stack was provided by an institutional private equity group and Regional Capital group, which will provide EB-5 Financing, along with the sponsor’s equity. Pike Senior Housing Partners LLC has partnered with Solvere Senior Living, an affiliated company of Solutions Advisors LLC, to develop the community. Homestead at Hamilton will feature 96 independent living units, 75 assisted living units and 24 memory care units.
HOUSTON — MiTek is expanding its Houston warehouse to 50,000 square feet to offer more product variety, inventory and fastest order fulfillment rates. MiTek expanded the Houston warehouse to address the needs of local contractors and do-it-yourself customers, where the company has seen increased demand. The warehouse is open and will reach its new full capacity in January of 2016. The expansion is aimed at reducing ship times and heightening customer responsiveness.
MIDLOTHIAN, TEXAS — Renzo Cella of NOVUS Realty Advisors has negotiated the sale of 31.8 acres on the southeast corner of the Highway 287 Bypass and FM 663 for the development of Midlothian Towne Center. Cella represented the seller in the transaction and helped negotiate the sale to Weber & Co., which plans to develop the 53-acre regional shopping center. Kroger Marketplace will anchor the development and could be joined by other big-box retailers. Construction is slated to begin March 2016 with an estimated completion date in April 2017. The shopping center will also feature an additional 10 pad sites for retailers and restaurants. Midlothian is located in northwest Ellis County. The city has seen a 136 percent increase in population since 2000.
ARLINGTON, TEXAS — MYCON General Contractors has broken ground on First Arlington Commerce Center II, a 234,100-square-foot warehouse facility located at 4551 New York Road in Arlington. First Industrial Realty Trust Inc. is the owner/developer of the project, and Pross Design Group is the architect. First Arlington Commerce Center II is slated for completion in mid-year 2016.
CARMEL, IND. — Anderson Birkla Investment Partners has selected Woolpert to design a $60 million mixed-use development in downtown Carmel, a northern suburb of Indianapolis. The Proscenium will be situated on 6.5 acres and will include 225 luxury one- and two- bedroom apartment units. Plans also include a fitness club, a bike center and a coffee bar. The Proscenium will also offer 20,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of office space that will be centered on 1.8 acres of public green space. Construction on The Proscenium will begin this fall and is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete.
CHICAGO — Novak Construction Co. has broken ground on a new Whole Foods Market in Chicago. The grocery store will be located at the intersection of Ashland, Belmont and Lincoln avenues. The store under construction at 3201 N. Ashland Ave. is replacing the existing Whole Foods Market, which is located at 3300 N. Ashland Ave. The new 70,000-square-foot store will feature a second-story balcony for outdoor dining and additional indoor dining space. Completion of the new Whole Foods Market is slated for spring 2017.
