STAFFORD, TEXAS — Construction has begun on a 100,000-square-foot facilityfor Ellen Lighting and Hardware in Stafford. The development will feature retail, office and distribution space for the company. DMAC Construction & Development is the general contractor and Three Square Design is providing architectural services. The facility  will include a showroom showcasing the supplier’s light fixtures and hardware. The space will also include an office and distribution center. The Ellen Lighting and Hardware facility will consist of tilt wall construction with a glass curtain wall, with a two-story portal entry.

HOUSTON — Oliver McMillan has announced 23 new retailers will join Houston’s River Oak’s District mixed-use development. The retailers are Akris, American Food and Beverage, Anne Fontaine, BONOBOS, Brioni, Brunello Cucinelli, Canali, Chopard, De Bouelle Diamond & Jewelry, Diptyque, Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, Giuseppe Zanotti, INTERMIX, John Lobb’s, Kiton, Le Colonial, L’Occitane’s, Moncler, Roberto Cavalli, Taverna, Thirteen Pies and Toulouse Café and Bar. River Oaks District is a mixed-use development on 14 acres located inside Loop 610 in Houston. The development is set to open in 2015.

WESLACO, TEXAS — NorthMarq Capital’s San Antonio office has arranged an $11 million construction loan for Weslaco Ranch Apartments, a 156-unit apartment complex located in the Weslaco. The 15-year loan includes two years of interest-only payments and a 25-year amortization schedule. Zapata Apartment Homes is the developer for the project. Construction will begin in January 2015.

CYPRESS, TEXAS — Red Capital Partners LLC has provided a $13.5 million balance sheet construction loan to an affiliate of Avanti Senior Living. Avanti on Towne Lake will be a 90-unit assisted living and memory care facility located in Cypress near the Avanti headquarters in The Woodlands. The community will consist of 50 assisted living units and 40 memory-care units. Avanti Senior Living has partnered with an affiliate of Iron Point Partners to develop a portfolio of Class A senior living communities throughout Texas and the southeastern United States.

HALTOM CITY, TEXAS — ALDI, a low-price grocery store chain, has opened a new location in Haltom City. The new store is located at 3173 Denton Hwy. ALDI has more than 1,300 total stores in 32 states. The chain is averaging 80 new stores each year. The Haltom City location was constructed with recycled materials and uses energy-efficient refrigeration and light bulbs.

FARIBAULT, MINN. — The Opus Group has completed an 18,500-square-foot renovation at The Inn at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, and the expansion of the historic Phelps Infirmary, built in 1867. The on-campus inn and event space was repurposed for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, located approximately 50 miles south of Minneapolis. Opus remodeled the 147-year-old building, adding approximately 10,000 square feet of new space to the two-story complex. Shattuck-St. Mary’s School is an Episcopal boarding and day school serving students from around the world. The completed Inn at Shattuck-St. Mary’s will serve as the Diocesan retreat and meeting center for the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. Opus Design Build LLC served as general contractor on the project. Construction began in June 2014 and the Inn’s doors opened for use in October.

HOUSTON — Crimson Real Estate Fund and USAA Real Estate Co. are set to begin construction on a new Class A apartment complex in the Westchase submarket of Houston. Patrinely Group is developing the 266-unit complex, which will be built on three acres located next to the 2500 City West Blvd. office building. The two companies acquired the building and an adjacent development site in November 2011. The project will include one- to three-bedroom units ranging in size from 600 square feet to 1900 square feet. It is set for completion in July 2016.

LAWRENCEBURG, IND. — Hilton Worldwide and DoubleTree by Hilton have opened DoubleTree by Hilton Lawrenceburg, a new $50 million hotel development at the city’s multi-purpose Lawrenceburg Event Center. Situated on the Ohio River in downtown Lawrenceburg, the nine-story, 168-room property is located at 51 Walnut St. The hotel includes a two-story lobby, which connects to an outdoor patio providing views of the city. Guestrooms overlooking the Ohio River feature a variety of amenities, including complimentary WiFi and 42-inch LCD TVs. The hotel also includes a 24-hour fitness center, business center and Wi-Fi access throughout public spaces and guest rooms. Indiana Gaming Co. LLC owns and will manage the hotel.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Simon and Cassco Development Co. will develop the first phase of retail on the Edwards Ranch into a 500,000-square-foot shopping center. The Shops at Clearfork will include 100 specialty stores, a movie theater and restaurants. Neiman Marcus will anchor the shopping center, which will span 90,000 square feet across two stories. Construction will start in the spring of 2015 and be completed in February 2017. The Shops at Clearfork is part of a larger 270-acre master plan for Clearfork.

BOLINGBROOK, ILL. — Renovations are underway on a freezer/cooler project for Eastland Foods in Bolingbrook. Peak Construction Corp. is making improvements to a 4,282-square-foot freezer/cooler space at the company’s Illinois facility located at the Panattoni building. Construction began on Oct. 1. Project enhancements include a new 3,522-square-foot freezer/food storage area and a 760-square-foot cooler storage space. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Harris Architects and Climate Pros Refrigeration are assisting with the project. Eastland Food imports and distributes food products from Southeast Asia. The company is headquartered in Maryland, but operates other locations in Illinois, Florida and California.
