DES PLAINES, ILL. — McShane Construction Co. has completed the 112,065-square-foot renovation of an industrial building transforming it into a food preparation facility for DO & CO Chicago Catering Inc. The property is located at 2150 Frontage Road in Des Plaines. McShane enhanced the overall shell of the building to support new refrigeration components, kitchen equipment and upgraded building and safety systems. The facility’s office, warehouse and production areas were modernized with contemporary features to optimize operational efficiencies. Harris Architects Inc. provided architectural services for the project. DO & CO is a catering company based in Vienna, Austria, active in airline, train and international events catering. The foodservice firm has expanded its services to O’Hare International Airport.

The property is located at 290 Zindaus St. The single, freestanding apartment building includes 24 one- and two-bedroom units located on 1.2 acres. Evan Miller, Dan Linnell, Mox Gunderson and Jon Ruzicka, of Marcus & Millichap’s Minneapolis office represented the seller and buyer, both limited liability companies. NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS — Kennedy Wilson has arranged the sale of a 6,000-square-foot retail building in New Braunfels, 15 miles north of San Antonio, for $1.3 million. The property is located at 490 S. Business IH-35 and is fully leased to Advance Auto Plus, a provider of aftermarket automotive parts. Ernest Brown and Jorge Rodriguez of Kennedy Wilson’s San Antonio office represented the unnamed buyer. John Heeren of SMPO Real Estate LLC represented the seller, Mitchell Leigh Potash, trustee of the Mitchell Leigh Potash Dynasty Trust. Retailers located near the property include Sears, Hobby Lobby, CVS Pharmacy and Domino’s Pizza.
NARRAGANSETT, R.I. — A subsidiary of Dividend Capital Diversified Property Fund Inc. has purchased Salt Pond Shopping Center for $39.2 million. Located at 91 Point Judith Road in Narragansett, the property is occupied by Stop & Shop, Marshalls/HomeGoods, Sports Authority, West Marine and Dollar Tree. Chris Angelone, Bill Moylan, Nat Heald and Bruce Lusa of CBRE/NE represented the undisclosed seller and the buyer in the transaction.
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. — Multi Housing Advisors (MHA) has brokered the $33.1 million sale of Springs at Trussville, a 328-unit apartment community located at 3539 Mary Taylor Road in Birmingham. Jimmy Adams of MHA’s Birmingham office represented the seller, Continental 166 Fund LLC, in the transaction. The buyer was Somerset Partners LLC. Built in 2007, the gated apartment community features a clubhouse, car care center, 24-hour fitness center, resort-style pool and a business center with free WiFi and computer access.
WEST COVINA, CALIF. — StarPoint Properties has purchased the 259-unit Lafayette Parc Apartments in West Covina for $51.7 million. The community is located at 624 South Glendora Ave. Lafayette Parc was built in 1964. It is currently 97 percent occupied. Community amenities include seven pools, a fitness center, tennis and basketball courts, on-site laundry, barbecues and a picnic area. The renovation will focus on many common-area upgrades. The community will receive a new leasing office, an upgrade and expansion of the main pool, including cabanas and a new barbecue/lounge area, a new spa, a new fitness center to overlook the pool, a sand volleyball court, resurfacing of the existing basketball and tennis courts, and the installation of a soccer field, dog park and theatre. Lafayette Parc’s seller was not named.
RIVERSIDE, CALIF. — Scuderia Development has acquired a 600,000-square-foot industrial property in Riverside for $43.5 million. The Class A property is located at 14600 Innovation Drive, within the Meridian Business Park. Scuderia plans to utilize the space as a warehouse and distribution facility for its aluminum products. The property includes 4,160 square feet of office space. Other notable tenants at Meridian Business Park include Sysco Corp., Yucaipa Company (Fresh & Easy), Kia Motors and McLane Foodservice. Newcastle Partners completed the property in late 2013. Phil Lombardo and Chuck Belden of Cushman & Wakefield represented both the buyer and Newcastle in this transaction.
DALLAS — Cassidy Turley’s project and development services team will oversee the design and construction of Sidley Austin LLP’s 73,600-square-foot office space at the new McKinney & Olive office building in uptown Dallas. Sidley Austin is a law firm with more than 1,800 attorneys in 18 offices around the world. The company has leased the top three floors McKinney & Olive, a new office tower owned by Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC. The space is located next to the Ritz-Carlton and a few blocks from The Crescent. Brad Blankenship, Dale Martin, Kyle Griffith, Randy Cooper and Craig Wilson of Cassidy Turley arranged the transaction on behalf of the tenant. Gensler is the architect for the project.
PLYMOUTH, MINN. — CPA:18 – Global, a non-traded REIT managed by W. P. Carey Inc., has acquired a 191,000 square-foot office and research development facility in Plymouth for $43 million. The facility, purchased from Liberty Property Trust, is leased to Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) for 10 years. ATK is an aerospace, defense and outdoor sports and recreation company operating in 21 states, Puerto Rico and internationally. Since moving into the building in 2001, ATK has made investments in the facility to meet its specific criteria for testing and housing specialized labs and equipment.
LANSING, MICH. — Princeton Enterprises has purchased Lansing Tower Apartments in Lansing for $3.6 million. The apartment community, located at 610 W. Ottawa St., includes 140 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Cary Belovicz of Commercial Property Advisors brokered the deal on behalf of the private seller. The new owner plans to renovate the exterior of the building, make plumbing improvements and add a new swimming pool deck, fitness center, resident lounge and lobby with a new WiFi beverage café. The property was built in 1968.
