DETROIT — Bedrock Real Estate Services and Library Street Collective are nearing completion on an art-focused retail and parking garage project in downtown Detroit. The 10-story garage development will blend 1,300 parking spots with the work of 27 mural artists from across the globe. Called “The Z,” because it zigzags from the corner of Broadway Street and East Grand River Avenue to the corner of Library and Gratiot streets, the garage will also include 34,000 square feet of retail. Construction on The Z began in late 2012 and is slated to open in December. Library Street Collective, a local art gallery located next to The Z, commissioned the artists to participate in the project.
