UC SANTA BARBARA LIBRARY BEGINS $53M RENOVATION

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. — The Davidson Library at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), has begun its $53-million renovation, upgrade and expansion. The 340,000-square-foot library facility will undergo seismic upgrades, renovations, and fire alarm and life safety system upgrades. A new 62,000-square-foot, three-story wing is also set to be added to the north side of the complex. Construction is scheduled for completion in January 2016.The majority of construction will take place during nighttime hours and throughout student holidays, as the facility will remain open to students. The renovation is being carried out by C.W. Driver, while Pfeiffer Partners will serve as the architect. The team is targeting a LEED-Silver certification.
