PHILADELPHIA — The Wistar Institute has broken ground on a $100 million project for a 89,700-square-foot research tower, located at 36th and Spruce streets in the University City section of Philadelphia. The building will comprise seven stories where five of the floors will house laboratories. Plans for the tower include a 200-seat auditorium. The project is slated for a spring 2014 completion. Funding includes an $18 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, along with $70 million in debt financing through Citizens Bank.
